Sr Engineering Manager - Core Platform Services

Target•Minneapolis, MN
•$132,000 - $238,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Engineering Manager will lead Target’s Core Platform Services team, partnering with a Principal Engineer, the team’s Product Manager, and peer platform leaders to remove friction across the software-builder experience. The team develops shared services that connect Target’s platforms, beginning with Action Center, remediation guides, and agentic remediation. Its services support builders across more than 5,000 applications on Target Application Platform (TAP), and are intended to help builders complete platform work safely and efficiently. The manager will lead platform, full-stack, and AI engineers; grow technical leaders; and deliver highly available, multi-tenant services used across the enterprise. The role treats builder experience as a product, using adoption, completion time, and reduced manual work to guide priorities and measure outcomes. It also drives adoption among peer platform teams, applies AI with appropriate safeguards and human review, and maintains operational excellence for business-critical services in 24x7 production environments. The role requires technical judgment across architecture, APIs, workflows, multi-tenant systems, and failure analysis, alongside people leadership, clear communication, and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous problems. The position is hybrid/flex, with work performed both onsite at Target HQ in Minnesota and virtually according to role, team, and task needs. Work duties cannot be performed outside the country of the primary work location unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
