About The Position

The Engineering and Innovation (E&I) team at SB Energy provides technical insights and assists decision-making across all life cycle phases of energy and data center projects, from development, construction, commissioning and operations and maintenance. The E&I team is seeking an engineer to provide SCADA, networking and control subject matter expertise during the design, contracting, construction, commissioning and operations of energy and data center projects (e.g. design package reviews, equipment selection, start-up, testing, etc.) The Sr. Control and Digital Infrastructure Engineer will: Be the control and SCADA technical lead during the contracting phase and ensuring expectations with the contractors are clear and defined Manage the requirements and ensure compliance with external parties including Independent System Operators (ISO), Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE), NERC, FERC, utilities and their respective commission entity (i.e. CPUC in California) into the design Lead the implementation and commissioning of SCADA, network and control on Datacenters, PV, substations and BESS to ensure the project meets or exceeds milestones and integration into the internal and external systems is successful Lead, oversee and support controls testing and commissioning activities from integration between systems, point to point, controls testing (AVR, PFR, curtailment, etc.), NERC, performance tests and others as necessary. Lead SCADA-related projects, including system, feature upgrades and expansions. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and on-budget completion. Cross functional knowledge of various components of energy and data center infrastructure to be able to use data to troubleshoot and diagnose issues Identify and evaluate technologies to reduce cost and expedite commissioning Provide technical knowledge on telecommunications and networking design and programming to ensure reliable, cost-effective and requirements are met for the project’s needs. Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and commissioning in control systems and networking in the energy and datacenter sectors
  • B.S. Engineering from ABET-accredited University or other technical degree. Masters or Doctorate degree a plus and counts towards professional experience.
  • Networking and cybersecurity knowledge with a CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA certificates is a plus
  • Datacenter knowledge in Electric Power Management System (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) is a plus
  • Proficient in Ignition, SEL Hardware & Software, GE RX3i, CodeSYS, Data Loggers, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Schneider, Meteorological Equipment, etc.
  • Demonstrated strong engineering, design, commissioning and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new ways.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize efforts and drive towards completion.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to contextualize and understand modeling results and effectively able to present results.
  • The position requires up to 25 % domestic travel.
