About The Position

The Sr Engineer I, Electrical Project Engineer - Energy Campus, is responsible for leading electrical engineering design for large energy campus projects integrating PV, wind, BESS, and thermal generation with 100 MW+ data center loads, as well as, Stand-alone or co-located onshore wind, solar, and storage projects, from development through construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in power generation, renewables, BESS, thermal generation, substations, transmission, data centers, or large industrial power systems
  • Experience with transmission design, substation design, collection/distribution systems, major equipment specifications, power system studies, and protection and control
  • Experience managing engineering consultants, Owner’s Engineers, EPCs, or third-party technical advisors
  • Experience supporting projects from development and feasibility through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations
  • Strong knowledge of utility interconnection, grid compliance, and power system modeling requirements
  • Support NERC compliance by preparing and coordinating electrical engineering evidence
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration or specialization in Power Systems
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain PE license
  • Experience with energy campus, microgrid, Private Use Network (PUN), behind-the-meter, or data-center-serving power infrastructure
  • Experience with 100 MW+ mission-critical loads or large industrial load integration.
  • Experience with PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CYME, PowerFactory, or similar power system study tools
  • Experience with RAM studies, reliability modeling, Feasibility study, redundancy analysis, and high-availability electrical architecture
  • Familiarity with inverter-based resources, BESS controls, plant controllers, thermal generation controls, and dynamic model validation
  • Familiarity with IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ANSI, IEC, NERC, ISO/RTO, and utility standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space

Responsibilities

  • Define overall electrical architecture, basis of design, single-line diagrams, protection philosophy, redundancy strategy, metering, and interconnection approach
  • Lead integration of PV, Wind, BESS, natural gas-fired power plants, substations, switchyards, gen-tie lines, and large data center loads
  • Serve as the electrical single point of contact for concept, detailed design, IFC, construction, commissioning, and operations turnover
  • Manage Owner’s Engineers, engineering consultants, EPC engineering teams, and specialty study consultants
  • Translate customer, hyperscaler, utility, ISO/RTO, and internal requirements into clear technical specifications and design deliverables
  • Coordinate with utilities, transmission providers, hyperscalers, generation owners, EPCs, OEMs, consultants, construction, operations, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee electrical balance-of-plant design, including MV/HV systems, substations, collection systems, auxiliary power, grounding, lightning protection, protection and controls, communications, and metering.
  • Lead review of major electrical equipment specifications, technical bids, vendor drawings, and procurement packages
  • Manage grid modeling and feasibility studies, including PSCAD, PSS/E, load flow, short circuit, transient stability, EMT, harmonic, protection coordination, grounding, arc flash, and RAM/system availability studies
  • Support interconnection applications, grid code compliance, utility studies, NERC documentation, model validation, and technical due diligence
  • Lead design reviews, constructability reviews, technical risk reviews, and resolution of RFIs, submittmits, deviations, and field engineering issues
  • Support commissioning, energization, testing, punch-list closeout, as-built documentation, and final asset turnover to operations
  • Develop and improve electrical engineering standards, design criteria, processes, procedures, and lessons learned
  • Ensure health, safety, environmental, reliability, availability, maintainability, and operational requirements are incorporated into all designs
