About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer is a key technical contributor and team leader who designs, builds, and maintains full-stack applications, including .NET/C# applications and the data services platform. As part of an Agile team, the engineer delivers well-engineered, maintainable, tested solutions on time while promoting user-centered design, sound architecture, and engineering best practices. The role develops and supports a compliance management platform and business-critical services and data-processing jobs. It includes building message handlers, ASP.NET Core APIs, SQL Server stored procedures and migrations, and Blazor UI; diagnosing production issues in distributed systems; and integrating with external services and SDKs. The engineer leads architectural discussions, mentors peers, collaborates with product, design, QA, and business stakeholders, and drives continuous improvement across engineering work.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in software engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with dynamic and/or compiled languages.
  • 5+ years of front-end web development experience.
  • Strong understanding of distributed messaging, such as Azure Service Bus or similar, queue-based workers, idempotency, retries, and dead-letter strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, leading code reviews, contributing to architectural decisions, and working with APIs from concept to completion.
  • A strong portfolio including mobile web, desktop, and app experiences; ability to work on multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET, MVC, jQuery, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, XML, and PHP.
  • Strong proficiency with relational databases, including data modeling and performance optimization.
  • Functional expertise with browser debugging tools and clean, maintainable coding practices.
  • Strong understanding of Lean and Agile values and user-centered design.
  • Strong communication, adaptability, attention to detail, and collaboration skills; comfort working with remote and in-office engineering teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to learn new technologies.
  • Travel to a nearby office for onboarding, training, and team collaboration may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server.
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Aurora relational databases.
  • Experience with ORMs such as Dapper or EF Core.
  • Familiarity with SaaS models and cloud services, preferably AWS; Microsoft Azure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop features for the compliance management platform on an Agile team, delivering maintainable, tested solutions within agreed-upon timeframes.
  • Build and maintain reusable code across message handlers, ASP.NET Core APIs, SQL Server stored procedures and migrations, and Blazor UI.
  • Support business logic across services and scalable data-processing jobs.
  • Diagnose production issues in distributed systems, including tracing requests, investigating dependency-injection lifetimes, and understanding retry and dead-letter behavior.
  • Practice and promote Test-Driven Development, participate in sprint planning and code reviews, and adapt to new technologies as needed.
  • Lead architectural discussions for mid-to-large systems and design modular, extensible, well-documented components.
  • Promote security, reliability, operational excellence, web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and user-centered design.
  • Build and maintain reusable Razor/MVC components, layouts, and forms.
  • Develop site architecture and wireframes, and optimize SEO, functionality, and browser compatibility.
  • Analyze, test, and troubleshoot website performance and coding issues.
  • Conduct detailed code reviews, uphold engineering standards, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Mentor and guide software engineers through coaching, pairing, and knowledge sharing; help unblock teammates and take ownership of team delivery quality.
  • Contribute to peer evaluations and growth planning, and model resilience, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
  • Collaborate with product teams, designers, QA, and stakeholders to understand requirements and scope, estimate, and deliver features.
  • Communicate user needs through storytelling and data to explain how proposed designs address those needs.
  • Work across multiple teams and projects in remote and local settings.
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead small- to mid-sized engineering efforts, such as migrations, technical-debt cleanup, and platform upgrades.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and engineering culture.
