About The Position

LYNX is seeking an experienced electronics technician also known at LYNX as a Technician A - Electronics to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair electronic and electrical systems used in transit operations. Equipment includes fair boxes, destination signs, communication systems, video recording equipment, and other onboard electronic devices. This position performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots complex system failures, interprets wiring diagrams and schematics, and tests equipment to verify reliable operation. The technician also documents repairs and provides technician guidance to other technicians while following established safety procedures. This position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Substance Abuse Program Policy for Safety Sensitive Positions. Shifts: Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts below as LYNX is a 24/7 operation and this will include weekends and holidays: 7:00pm to 3:30am (This shift comes with a $2.00 pay differential)

Requirements

High School diploma or GED plus four years’ experience in the electronic repair field plus two years of technical school; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must possess and maintain a current Florida CDL permit/license, Class “B” with Passenger endorsement and Airbrakes.
Knowledge of electronics to inspect, diagnose, remove and repair equipment and systems.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work as a team player.
Ability to drive buses, trucks, non-revenue vehicles and equipment into the shop, line and yard.
Ability to physically bend, stoop, walk, kneel, stretch and lift fifty pounds.
Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen.
Ability to understand and operate special test equipment.
Ability to work in open bays, inside buses and inside test and repair room.
Ability to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Completes scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all electronic systems, subassemblies and control devices.
Inspects, diagnoses, removes, and repairs electronic systems, equipment and devices.
Records periodic electrical testing and recommends modification or replacement of equipment that fails to meet acceptable operational standards.
Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventive or corrective maintenance.
Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and repair operational electrical and electrical controlled equipment and circuitry.
Adjusts, calibrates, aligns and modifies circuitry and components, and records effects on unit performance.
Analyzes and interprets test data.
Develops charts, graphs and schematics to describe and illustrate system’s operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications and functional limitations for consideration by management in broader determinations affecting system design.
Uses testing equipment (meters, oscilloscopes, test bench and mock-up).
Executes field repairs on all electronic systems, subassemblies and control devices including connector and harness manufacture and repair.
Works with lower-grade technicians on difficult or unusual problems.
Ensures operator defects are completed on all electrical equipment on schedule.
Sets up standard test apparatus or devices, test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live test to evaluate performance and reliability of production models.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
