About The Position

The Sr. Electrical Test Engineer will work to develop and support end of line test processes and equipment for our Battery team. You will work cross functionally daily with a number of individuals from Process Engineers, Group Leaders, team members, management, etc. This role is vital to our success as we work towards the expansion of our next generation vehicles! This role will report to one of our Engineer Managers in Battery and be on site in Normal, IL. This role will be for 2nd/night shift coverage. 3:30pm - 12:00am - Subject to change based on business needs

Requirements

  • Ability to work 2nd/night shift
  • Must have good communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Experience and/or Knowledge of statistical tools, DOEs and Minitab preferred
  • Experience and/or certification in Six Sigma DMAIC (optional), Lean Assembly Principles
  • Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude.
  • High energy and self-motivated
  • 4- year technical degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, or an equivalent field
  • 2 years working with electrical test systems in related field (Automotive preferred)
  • Experience with testing EV battery systems preferred
  • Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma etc experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lab instruments: DMM, Oscilloscope, debugger, HIL operation preferred
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to do work on the production floor with exposure to dust, fumes, orders, loud noise and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to climb up/down ladders and stairs, negotiate uneven or moving surfaces, and work at varying heights.

Responsibilities

  • Support test equipment development, commissioning, qualification, and integration in the Normal manufacturing battery area.
  • Develop production level test procedures in collaboration with manufacturing engineering and product engineering
  • Coordinates and tracks the launch of new programs/products and updates end of line testing accordingly
  • Reviews, interprets, and summarizes end of line statistical data to drive continuous improvement
  • Determine the ‘Best Practice’ process approach of material, tooling, equipment, and labor process for all electrical test systems
  • Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions
  • Develop work instructions, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure testing process is repeatable and efficient
  • Participate in product reviews to evaluate process impact and provide feedback on test sequence, equipment capability, and investment requirements
  • Optimize test procedure within available system cycle time
  • Investigate electrical issues / failure modes identified at end of line and implement containment solutions by reviewing product design, upstream processes, and testing procedures
  • Apply technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing to guide repair technicians and develop best practice rework procedures
  • Support hardware integration related to interfacing hardware and connection issues
