About The Position

The Sr. Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for implementing engineering projects, including the creation of Construction Documents, coordination with other disciplines, permitting, bidding, and construction administration in accordance with client requirements and code. This role ensures a high level of quality assurance on all project deliverables, such as construction documents and specification responses. The engineer will research and stay updated on the latest design trends in coordination with vendors, senior engineers, and online resources. They will possess excellent knowledge of discipline-specific and general building codes, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. Leadership is required to educate clients on design and project requirements. The engineer will meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review matters. They will estimate discipline man-hours needed for design requirements and can serve as the main point of contact for projects with clients, contractors, and consultants with minimal Project Manager or Principal input. Responsibilities include ensuring coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines, overseeing the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications, maintaining company and client standards, anticipating and resolving issues, providing ongoing quality control, obtaining and performing peer reviews of documents, overseeing project budgets and scope completion within allotted time, communicating owner revisions and RFIs, assisting in client representation at public hearings and meetings, providing customer service to maintain client relationships, and mentoring/training engineering designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer
  • Engineer of Record in several states
  • Able to complete the job requirement of Project Engineer successfully.
  • Excellent knowledge of discipline specific codes and other building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring high level of quality assurance on the product i.e., Construction documents, specifications, RFI responses etc.
  • Research, develop and keep updated with latest design in coordination with vendor, senior engineer and other online resources.
  • Meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss the design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
  • Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for a project or series of projects with one or several clients, the contractor and the consultants with limited input required from the Project Manager or Principle.
  • Ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Oversee the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications for the projects/programs.
  • Maintain Cuhaci & Peterson and/or the client’s standards.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Provide on-going quality control throughout the project.
  • Obtain and perform peer review of documents.
  • Oversee setting up project budget(s) and completing designated scope of work within allotted time.
  • Communicate owner revisions and RFI’s.
  • Assist in representing the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, as needed.
  • Provide customer service to client in order to maintain relationship.
  • Mentor and train engineering designer to successfully produce high quality construction documents and within the allotted budget.
