About The Position

Creates electrical design solutions for aircraft interiors, including wire routing, harnesses and equipment installations, ensuring Fit, Form and Function to meet customer criteria, quality standards, FAA requirements, budget and project schedules using Computer Aided Drafting/Design tools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Creates electrical installation design solutions for aircraft interior, including wire routing, harnesses, and equipment installations using Computer Aided Drafting/Design tools, ensuring Fit, Form and Function. Creates a drawing list of assigned wire and / or electrical equipment installations for project level STC. Ensures electrical designs meet customer criteria, quality standards and FAA requirements. Experienced in writing technical documents such as EWIS, Wire Compliance, Cooling Analysis, EZAP and others. Experienced with working directly with DERs, UMs, and/or other FAA regulatory bodies and divisions. Familiar with current FAA regulations applicable to electrical installation. Experienced with leading effort for aircraft wide equipment installation planning including locations, requirements, materials, etc. Selects materials for electrical installations based on electrical requirements and materials specifications. Evaluates trade-offs in materials, composites, coatings, and other selections to best meet design objectives. Works with materials suppliers and material testing when needed. Understands Bills of Materials, assembly concepts, fabrication specifications. Adheres to budget and project schedules. Provides design guidance and feedback to other engineering personnel. Provides liaison engineering support to resolve build and installation issues. Interfaces with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Stress, Manufacturing, and Certification. Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being at work on time and working full shifts. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to check electrical engineering drawings for Fit, Form and Function.
  • Ability to approve engineering packages for release.
  • Strong Computer Aided Drafting/Design skills using AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
  • Strong knowledge of industry design and documentation standards.
  • Highly experienced in installation drawings, harness assemblies and the installation of electrical equipment.
  • Highly experienced with wire diagrams, schematics, system block diagrams and topologies.
  • Understanding of the certification path for electrical engineering packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Experience adhering to budget and project schedules.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.
  • Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation background and aircraft interior experience preferred.
  • Three dimensional (3D) design/drafting skills are preferred.
