About The Position

Eurofins EAG Laboratories is seeking a Sr. Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer specializing in Electronics & ICs for their Sunnyvale, CA laboratory. This role involves evaluating the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems, integrated circuits, components, and sub-components to determine the root cause of failures. The engineer will verify analog and digital performance, analyze failure reports, and recommend corrective actions. A key aspect of the role is developing and improving failure analysis methods, processes, procedures, and equipment. The position requires providing technical information, guidance, and leadership. The engineer will utilize advanced tools and techniques to support clients by understanding their needs, designing and executing analytical plans, providing insights, and recommending next steps. This dynamic role involves working with a variety of innovative samples in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or appropriate science field is required.
  • 10+ years of direct experience in Semiconductor or Electronics Failure Analysis.
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Electrical Test/Measurements: ATE datalog, Curve trace, Bench test (parametric analyzer, o-scopes, CV measurement, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in X-ray (2D and CT/3D).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (C-SAM).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Fault isolation techniques: OBIRCH, XIVA, emmi, IR Thermography, LVP/LTP, SDL/LADA.
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Deprocessing (RIE, parallel lapping, PFIB, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Chemical etching (HF, acids/bases, delineation, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Plasma etching (RIE, ICP, CF4, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Cross sectioning (metallurgical, ion mill, DB FIB, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in SEM/EDS.
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Microprobing/Picoprobing/Nanoprobing.
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Dye and Pry.
  • Hands-on Experience and Expertise in Warpage measurement (shadow or projection moire).
  • Knowledge in Device physics, circuits/schematics, IC design, semiconductor fabrication and package manufacturing, etc.
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards: ISO, MIL-STD, AEC, JEDEC, IPC, etc.
  • Knowledge of FinFET and advanced node technology.
  • Knowledge of DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis).
  • Proficiency in Software: GDS layout, LabView.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Must be a proficient communicator and listener.
  • Must be hands-on in a laboratory environment, operating tools, performing techniques, etc.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee).
