Sr. Electrical Estimator (Data Centers)

Centuri Group, Inc.•Cherry Hill Township, NJ
•$130,000 - $180,000

About The Position

The Senior Electrical Estimator leads detailed, high-stakes cost estimates for major hyperscale and colocation data center developments. The role applies expertise in critical power systems—including substations, switchgear, UPS, and generator infrastructure—to support constructability, speed, accuracy, and bid strategy on mission-critical projects. The estimator works across conceptual through final estimates, develops budgets for fast-track and phased projects, manages industry relationships related to long-lead equipment and pricing, presents bids and cost drivers to clients, and mentors junior estimating staff.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of electrical estimating and/or project management experience in industrial electrical construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Proven track record estimating large-scale data center projects.
  • Deep technical knowledge of medium-voltage distribution, UPS/backup power, switchgear, mission-critical redundancy (N+1, 2N), and phased construction in live environments.
  • Proficiency with Trimble Accubid for takeoff and pricing, along with standard project tools such as MS Office and Bluebeam.
  • Strong commercial judgment, constructability evaluation, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Provide valid U.S. work authorization documents for E-Verify.
  • Satisfactory pre-employment background check results and ability to pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.

Responsibilities

  • Lead conceptual through final cost estimating for large-scale data center projects, including phased expansions, medium-voltage infrastructure, substations, UPS systems, and generator power.
  • Use Trimble Accubid for electrical takeoff, pricing, and cost database management; maintain accurate unit pricing and benchmarks for repeatable data center prototypes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and review complex project specifications to develop labor, material, and equipment budgets tailored to fast-track schedules, uptime requirements, and constructability constraints.
  • Build partnerships with OEMs, specialty subcontractors, and clients to manage long-lead equipment procurement and optimize pricing.
  • Present bids and cost drivers clearly to clients.
  • Mentor junior estimating staff on mission-critical construction methods, phased turnover, and critical path sequencing.
  • Perform other estimating tasks as requested by leadership.
