About The Position

Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Facilities Engineering Solution Center, specializing in Data Center projects. This role involves leading technical electrical design, mentoring junior staff, and preparing comprehensive project documentation. The engineer will design electrical systems with a focus on Data Centers, including redundant power distribution, lighting photometric designs, and low voltage systems. Collaboration with other disciplines and participation in site visits and construction administration are key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience required
  • Experience with design of Data Center projects
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • 5-8 years of engineering experience
  • Experience using Revit

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to provide a comprehensive project report or detailed design.
  • Leads technical electrical design portions of projects in a multi-discipline environment
  • Mentors electrical interns and designers on team
  • Designs electrical systems for facilities projects with a technical focus on Data Center projects.
  • Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs for project
  • Designs redundant power distribution systems to meet owner Tier requirements
  • Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software to generate 2D and 3D models and plans.
  • Performs lighting photometric designs.
  • Performs electrical calculations for voltage drop and cable sizing, electrical service sizing, panelboard, and electrical equipment designs.
  • Performs electrical studies including short circuit analysis, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Performs design of low voltage systems for data/voice, access control, CCTV, and fire alarm.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines including civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical engineering to complete detailed designs.
  • Participates in project site visits as needed.
  • Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of projects
  • Facilitates Construction Administration on projects by reviewing submittals and respond to requests for information from contractors.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Implements code requirements on projects including National Electrical Code, standard operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Reviews work developed by others for quality purposes
  • Performs other duties as requested
