Sr Electrical Engineer, Robotics

Imperative CareCampbell, CA
$139,000 - $168,000Onsite

About The Position

This position is based in our Campbell, California offices. This position is on-site, full-time. At Imperative Care, we are developing novel robotic-assisted technologies and interventional capabilities that will forever change the disparate outcomes of ischemic stroke – a disease that impacts close to a million people a year in the U.S., and 10 million worldwide. Not only is Imperative Care changing the way stroke is treated, but also bringing this treatment to the greater population who is currently without. We are actively building a team who is focused on developing novel solutions for this complex disease – a disease in which one in four adults will face in their lifetime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Extensive electronic circuit design experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting sophisticated electronic systems, including component level electronic issues, EMI/EMC/ESD mitigation, and noise identification and suppression.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve difficult design, and test challenges, identifying solutions to meet medical safety and IEC EMC standards, such as IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, IEC61000-4-6 or related standards for complex medical systems.
  • Expertise in the design of DC motor control circuits, PID control loops, and analysis of motor and motor driver performance.
  • Proven experience designing and developing complex electrical systems from feasibility through to production, from board to system level.
  • Proven experience in board level printed circuit board design, including schematic design, PCBA layout in both analog/mixed signal/power electronic and digital domains.
  • Strong proficiency with lab test equipment including multi meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies.
  • Proficient in Altium Designer or an equivalent schematic capture and PCB layout tool.
  • Proficiency in code development in Python, C, C++.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills to persuade broadly across engineering teams, internal and external partners, including engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Design electronic circuit board and robotic subassembly test fixtures that test motion control and sensor circuit performance and reliability. Including mixed-signal, analog, digital and data acquisition circuit design.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to realize complex electromechanical test fixtures.
  • Coordinate EMI/EMC testing of product hardware and identify design improvements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, CISPR22, ISO for safety and EMC compliance in a regulated environment (UL, TUV, FDA).
  • Identify and design product design improvements to enhance electronics reliability, testability, manufacturability and performance against regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and implement a product manufacturing and test plan that ensures hardware electronics quality and reliability.
  • Facilitate board bring-up, test, and debug of newly designed printed circuit boards.
  • Write electronic hardware design verification protocols and develop test vehicles for executing the protocols.
  • Work closely with electronic hardware suppliers to ensure manufacturing and test procedures are set up, qualified, and executed to meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively status plans to multi-functional engineering/program management teams.
