About The Position

MOOG Space and Defense Group is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to join the electrical engineering design team. This role owns the electrical design lifecycle for complex boards and subsystems. This includes interpreting requirements, defining system and block‑level architectures, producing schematics and block diagrams, validating designs through analysis and test, and producing supporting documentation. The candidate will also provide PCB design guidance (stack‑up, routing, SI/PI considerations) and hands‑on lab support during board bring‑up. Although it is an individual contributor role, the position may require leading design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multi‑discipline teams. The role demands technical depth, foresight, and creativity to anticipate and resolve novel engineering challenges. If you have technical depth, practical experience, and enthusiasm to work with a high-performing team, this role is for you!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on hardware/electrical design experience.
  • Self-motivated, strong analytic and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium).
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad).
  • Working knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis and practical mitigation techniques.
  • Proven ability to produce clear design documentation and to support board bring up and lab debugging.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of harsh-environment / aerospace-grade hardware (radiation‑tolerant design, thermal vacuum testing).
  • Demonstrated history of both analog (instrumentation) and digital design implementation and commissioning.
  • Experience collaborating with SI/PI or FPGA teams and using modeling evidence to support design reviews.
  • Familiarity with power devices/modules or motor control is a plus.
