About The Position

This position conducts Apprentice and Journey-level training, instruction and evaluation. This person will be a shared resource between IPL Technical Training and Field Operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • This position can be filled in either the Local 204 or the Local 204-949 areas and is open to anyone holding the credentials of a Journey level Line Mechanic.
  • This position must live within 80 miles of the Marshalltown Training Center.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on J.A.T.C as an ex officio member (with voice but no vote).
  • Attend training sessions for coordinators and training staff.
  • Travel when needed to other areas of the company to perform coordinator duties such as the Technical Training Center and Field in Marshalltown.
  • Coordinating hands-on training and classes at Marshalltown and other locations. (See that equipment and materials are at training site prior to any training sessions).
  • Serve as an evaluator for apprentices and field personnel, if needed and qualified.
  • Instruct apprentice and journey level training.
  • Track apprentice training (e.g. Hands-On, On-the-Job and related instruction) to ensure that apprentices are on schedule and receiving training in a timely manner by: Reviewing Apprentice progress reports (Form B); Providing input/assistance to the apprentice sub-committees; and meeting with apprentices, as needed.
  • Monitor the progress of apprentices in proficiency based training modules by: Providing assistance as a subject-matter-expert for apprentices who need assistance with the training modules.
  • Observe evaluators/instructors both in the classroom and in the field and provide feedback.
  • Serve as a subject-matter-expert for technical writers who need input for developing training modules by: Providing job data and task analysis to support course/module development; digital support.
  • Evaluating instructional materials for technical and procedural accuracy: Reviewing course/module feedback to provide suggestions for improvement; Identifying training needs of apprentices/journey workers; and Designing and assist in developing the continuing training needs of Field personnel.
  • Monitor and observe hands-on training.
  • Evaluate quality of hands-on training.
  • Conduct apprentice and journey level training, instruction and evaluations.
