This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision. As part of a hardworking team of EHS Professionals, you will provide domain expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of safety and health compliance with local, state, and federal laws at the Washington facilities and satellite locations including, but not limited to: OSHA, PSM, NFPA, and ANSI requirements. You will ensure environmental compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including but not limited to: NEPA, RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, and NPDES. Additional Information: Travel expected up to 30% of the time Relocation provided Day Shift

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
  • 8+ years total work in EHS
  • 5+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry
  • Knowledge and ability to use industrial hygiene tools and monitors
  • Knowledge and technical abilities with Environmental compliance
  • Expertise in writing technical reports
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA and State of Washington regulations
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods
  • Knowledge of incident/accident reporting practices, investigations, root cause/corrective action processes
  • Good analytical skills and attention to details, technical writing, with an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information
  • Ability to lift/carry up to fifty pounds, climb multiple flights of stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to take ownership and insist on the highest standards with all environmental, health, and safety matters

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years total work in EHS
  • 7+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry
  • Expertise in Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
  • CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage EHS professionals in accomplishment of organizational goals
  • Implement EHS programs for the evaluation and control of potential hazards including, but not limited to: Industrial hygiene Fall protection Confined space Lock out tag out Process safety management Hazard assessments Hearing conservation and noise hazards Heat stress Environmental management
  • Perform a wide range of EHS consultation services, including planning, managing, and reporting assessment results
  • Provide domain expertise in design and test reviews
  • Support incidents, including spills, injuries, hazardous operations, launches, hurricanes, and other emergencies
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at all Washington facilities
  • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required
  • Continually update and ensure compliance with Blue Origin processes and procedures
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our EHS Program
  • Assist in waste disposal activities including hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste, and recycling materials
  • Contribute to the incident and event reporting process
  • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training
  • Serve as site focal point for safety and environmental issues and concerns
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
  • Support development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments
  • Provide domain expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS
  • Provide EHS related input for building design and operations
  • Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs
