About The Position

Performs ultrasound technical duties to image heart muscle and function. Creates images of the heart, cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels to assess cardiac function and support diagnosis. Works closely with cardiologists by performing the technical aspects of examinations, evaluating findings, and reporting them. Provides efficient and effective clinical care using strong technical and organizational skills and critical thinking.

Requirements

• Currently certified or eligible for certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• ARDMS or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI-RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential required.
• CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; some certifications require a bachelor’s degree.
• Three years of technical experience.
• Echocardiography (ECG) certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up ultrasound equipment, attach electrodes to the patient's chest and equipment, and document cardiac data and measurements.
• Prepare patients for imaging by positioning them, applying gel, attaching electrodes, verifying wave signals, and recording images.
• Interview patients and review medical records to adapt sonographic techniques.
• Provide patient care, including preparing patients for sonographic imaging and giving instructions.
• Perform echocardiography on treadmill patients to assess heart function.
• Maintain equipment and inventories, restock supplies, review patient schedules, set up recording equipment, and enter patient information into appropriate systems.
• Keep job knowledge current through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, and professional organizations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
