Senior DVT Engineer

VertivWesterville, OH

About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of liquid-cooling technology for AI-driven datacenters by solving complex engineering challenges through hands-on experimentation, rigorous test engineering, and technical leadership. The Senior DVT Engineer is responsible for executing Design Verification Testing (DVT) activities to ensure new liquid cooling products meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements. This role plays a key part across the NPDI (New Product Development & Introduction) lifecycle, supporting test planning, execution, data analysis, and issue resolution. The Senior DVT Engineer works cross-functionally to validate designs, improve product quality, and ensure successful product qualification. This position requires collaboration across mechanical, electrical, controls, process, and manufacturing engineering in a fast-paced, world-class lab environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in product validation, test engineering, or thermal system development.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced development environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with psychrometrics, refrigeration cycles (HCFC/HFC/HFO), and industry standard test methods.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Demonstrated success in delivering validated products through a structured NPDI process.
  • International travel willingness (up to 20%).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Design Verification Test (DVT) plans for new liquid cooling products.
  • Translate product requirements and specifications into clear, testable validation methods.
  • Perform and support performance testing (ASHRAE), reliability testing, and component-level validation.
  • Support Factory Witness Testing (FWT) activities by preparing test setups, validating instrumentation, and ensuring systems meet predefined test conditions.
  • Execute test procedures during FWT events and provide real-time technical support to ensure successful demonstration of product performance and functionality.
  • Document test results and assist in resolving issues identified during FWT to ensure customer and internal acceptance criteria are met.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and reporting of test results.
  • Support validation activities across all NPDI phases, including prototype builds, design validation, and product qualification.
  • Contribute to design reviews by providing test data, insights, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure traceability between product requirements and test results.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware/controls, manufacturing, and quality teams to validate product designs.
  • Support issue resolution by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with lab and process engineering teams to support test setup and execution.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Compare test data to analytical models and support model validation efforts.
  • Identify performance gaps and recommend design improvements.
  • Support root-cause investigations for test failures and field issues using structured methods (8D, FMEA).
  • Contribute to improvements in test methods, data quality, and lab processes.
  • Assist in developing more efficient and repeatable validation practices.
