About The Position

Supira Medical, a clinical-stage Shifamed Portfolio Company, is developing a low-profile, high continuous flow percutaneous ventricular assist device (pVAD) to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support in high risk percutaneous coronary interventional (HRPCI) procedures as well as patients suffering from cardiogenic shock. Founded in 2009 by serial entrepreneur Amr Salahieh, Shifamed LLC is a privately held medical device innovation hub focused on the development of novel medical products to address clinical needs in the rapidly evolving fields of cardiology and ophthalmology. We're hiring a Finance leader at the Sr. Director or VP-level. The Sr. Director / VP, Finance will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, responsible for building and leading the company’s financial and operational infrastructure as the Company completes its U.S. pivotal trials toward a PMA approval. You will oversee financial strategy, capital planning, operational finance, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
  • Experience in Venture-backed life sciences or medical device companies
  • Experience leading the preparation of AICPA-compliant, audited financial statements
  • Experience supporting clinical-stage companies transitioning to commercialization
  • Experience selecting and implementing ERP systems in early- to growth-stage companies
  • Experience supporting strategic shareholder exit transactions
  • Demonstrated experience managing external audits and implementing internal controls
  • Proven success leading complex, cross-functional ERP implementations
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strategic yet highly hands-on leader
  • Strong project management and change leadership skills
  • Comfortable building infrastructure from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and sound judgment
  • Effective communicator with executives, investors, auditors, and global partners

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, governance, and long-term value creation.
  • Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors on financial planning, capital strategy, and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain integrated financial and operating models covering R&D, clinical trials, manufacturing scale-up, and commercialization.
  • Deliver clear financial insights, KPI's, and scenario analyses to support executive and Board decisions.
  • Lead the accounting function and the creation of financial statements that meet AICPA-compliant standards.
  • Design, implement and manage internal controls and reporting processes appropriate for a regulated, venture-backed medical device company.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Support the CEO and Board in pursuing venture financings, strategic investments, and non-dilutive funding initiatives.
  • Manage investor relations, including Board reporting, audit-ready diligence materials, and ongoing investor communications.
  • Support preparation for future liquidity events or strategic transactions.
  • Scale the finance organization, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, and external service providers.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and burn-rate optimization.
  • Establish scalable financial systems, policies, and procedures appropriate for Supira’s stage of business.
  • Oversee financial management of clinical trials, including CRO contracts, milestone-based payments, and cost and financial reporting controls.
  • Align financial planning with regulatory pathways (FDA, CE Mark, Medicare enforcement, and other jurisdictions as applicable).
  • Evaluate the need for and timing of upgrading Supira’s ERP system and make recommendations to management and the Board.
  • Define system requirements spanning accounting, FP&A, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, and revenue processes.
  • Lead the selection, design, and implementation of the company’s first fully integrated ERP system, ensuring alignment with financial reporting, audit, and operational requirements.
  • Oversee data migration, system controls, user training, and change management.
  • Ensure the ERP platform supports scalability, regulatory compliance, and future commercialization needs.
  • Coordinate ERP implementation with external vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare the finance organization and systems for transition from pre-revenue to early commercial operations.
  • Define revenue recognition policies, pricing models, and gross margin analytics aligned with regulatory approvals and go-to-market strategy.
  • Support manufacturing, supply chain, and inventory planning from a financial and systems perspective.
  • Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
  • Oversee tax strategy, insurance coverage, and compliance with healthcare and medical device regulations.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, ERP vendors, banks, and other external partners.
