About The Position

The Senior Director of U.S. Trade & Distribution is the lead for the U.S. commercial supply chain and channel strategy. Reporting to the Vice President of Market Access, this individual is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of a high-performing distribution network that ensures patient access while maximizing commercial value. As a key leader within the U.S. Market Access function, you will oversee the total 3PL, Specialty Pharmacy, and Distributor ecosystem, driving the long-term roadmap for trade operations and ensuring the organization is positioned to scale for future therapeutic innovations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical trade and distribution, with a proven track record in the specialty pharmacy and 3PL sectors
  • Experience in Oncology or Rare Diseases is highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with key Trade and Distribution technologies, including SAP and Tracelink, and federal / state legislation, such as DSCSA
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-stakes negotiations with national wholesalers and large-scale specialty providers
  • Extensive experience leading trade strategy for multiple successful U.S. product launches, particularly in the specialty or orphan drug space
  • Proven experience in building teams and managing direct reports while driving operational effectiveness; ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and lead cross-functional organizational change

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the long-term U.S. distribution strategy, including the selection and oversight of 3PL partners and the design of bespoke Limited Distribution Networks (LDN) for specialty products
  • Serve as the lead negotiator for enterprise-level contracts with major Wholesalers, Specialty Distributors, and National Pharmacy chains to optimize channel fee structures and service requirements
  • Anticipate industry shifts (e.g., DSCSA compliance, cold-chain innovations, or policy changes) and proactively adapt the distribution model to maintain a competitive advantage
  • Oversee trade readiness and enterprise-wide "Go-to-Market" strategies for all pipeline assets and lifecycle management initiatives
  • Lead transformation initiatives in Trade & Distribution including process redesign, systems modernization, vendor optimization, and automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy
  • Own the trade-related components of the Gross-to-Net (GTN) strategy, providing executive leadership with visibility into channel costs, inventory fluctuations, and potential financial risks
  • Drive the integration of channel data into enterprise forecasting models to ensure high-accuracy demand planning and inventory management
  • Implement advanced analytics to monitor channel health, utilizing data-driven insights to mitigate product diversion, stockpiling, or supply disruptions
  • Collaborate with other members of the U.S. Market Access, Finance, and Commercial Operations team to align trade strategy with broader corporate financial and patient access goals
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team (internal FTEs and external vendors), to ensure effective and efficient management of day-to-day U.S. Trade and Distribution operations
  • Represent the organization in industry forums and with key trade partners, positioning the company as a "partner of choice" in the specialty pharmaceutical space
