About The Position

Under the supervision of the CEO and cross-functional reporting to the CHRO and CFO, the Senior Director of Risk Management serves as the lead for the organization on all matters related to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). They will serve and lead management in the safety and security for all Y members/participants and employees, potential or emerging risks, and business practices and policies. They will optimize risk management processes and ERM strategies for various OCY programs, capturing and implementing recommendations from metric and audit findings, external/internal assessments that identify risks. This position will be responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and safeguarding the assets while maintaining the integrity of the Association through sound practices of enterprise risk management, loss control, and prevention. In conjunction with other organizational leaders, they will initiate, enforce, and review the procedures by which the Association's business is conducted.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five to eight years of risk management experience, YMCA and/or Social Services experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management and safety techniques programs, loss control practices, and legal file case management.
  • Proven leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and staff; able to actively influence, coach, mentor, and lead through complex initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and accomplish multiple projects and work assignments with little supervision, successfully meeting deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to develop, implement, and manage risk and compliance standards throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior leadership, third-party organizations, and high-level volunteers to ensure risk management best practices.
  • Ability to understand data and use it to drive business decisions and planning. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of business imperatives, strategic priorities, and proven success in strategy development, implementation, and execution.
  • Demonstrated and successful experience assessing situations, defining problems, collecting data, and drawing valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and evaluation of the Association ERM systems, including direction and leadership of safety & training programs, SOPs, and support of the insurance program in conjunction with HR, Finance, and other business groups and their leaders.
  • Identify and escalate to senior leadership any conflicts with risk management results and expected business outcomes.
  • Create a culture of continuing risk evaluation and improvement among all associates, while maintaining existing and new accreditations.
  • Chair the Association’s Safety & Risk Committee.
  • Create and modify policies to comply with safety legislation, industry practices, and support adherence to all regulatory and OCY expectations and regulations.
  • Review methods of data collection, processing, and applications as they relate to the collection and analysis of ERM information.
  • Oversee upgrade of Incident Reporting systems. Perform root cause analysis of high-level incidents and provide quarterly ERM reviews of incidents and trends.
  • Working with Association leaders and third parties, supervise and guide the ERM business processes that are critical to the safe and effective operation of all programs and services.
  • Develop, perform, and oversee analyses as it relates to ERM in topics such as incident reports, claims, inspections, findings, and the like. Monitor all departmental activities to ensure proper control of the Association's safety, compliance, and assets.
  • Advise, train, and guide management and staff in the administration of established safety programs and procedures. Ensure regular adherence to annual drills, compliance, and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Partner with Leaders to review training curriculum and overall compliance with all training requirements. Actively participate in all training sessions and designated Operations meetings.
  • Lead OCY in the development, maintenance, and testing of the Association's contingency plan.
  • Take the lead on all insurance-type claims against the Association, including property, liability, member accident, D & O, and vehicle. Partner with CHRO, attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals to support open claims and mitigate the effects of accidental losses on Association finances caused by claim expenses and settlements.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Audit & Compliance Committee book and related materials. Participate in the Committee meetings.
