About The Position

Quest Diagnostics’ Clinical Solutions division manages diagnostic tests and other solutions that help hundreds of millions of patients gain insights into their health each year. Product Directors own a large clinical segment and a portfolio of diagnostic tests and solutions. The Senior Product Director for Metabolic and Wellness will manage a ~$1B portfolio within our multi-billion dollar Cardiometabolic, Endocrinology, and Wellness department. This role will work oversee clinically important areas like Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease, and Metabolic Liver Disease (MASLD/MASH) as well as explore cutting-edge areas such as the gut microbiome, optimal health, sleep, longevity, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This role will oversee 2 – 3 product managers, determine the appropriate assignment of these managers to the portfolio, and manage their performance. To be successful, this individual will partner closely with Medical, Operations, IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and many other cross-functional partners to build the business case for, secure approval of, and manage the launch of these new solutions. The Senior Product Director will also maintain relationships and opportunistically collaborate with medical associations, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and many other external organizations. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A degree in life sciences, finance, business, marketing, or product management may be most relevant
  • A typical senior product director has 12+ years of work experience, most of which has been in the healthcare industry, with 5+ years specifically in marketing and product management
  • Because this role manages a team from day 1, previous people management experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to become knowledgeable in the clinical aspects of the assigned clinical area (Metabolic and Wellness)
  • Strong project management skills, including engaging the right stakeholders, assigning and following up on action items, and building project timelines
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, especially in PowerPoint
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze financial data in Excel, and ability to create and defend financial forecasts
  • Working with many cross-functional partners who have many different working styles and personalities

  • An advanced degree such as an MBA is not required, but many of our product directors do have an advanced degree

Responsibilities

  • Drive for profitable growth in the assigned clinical area (Metabolic and Wellness) by recommending and overseeing various initiatives including marketing and sales campaigns, operations improvement projects, R&D and innovation, and partnerships and M&A activity.
  • Oversee, develop, and coach a team of 2 – 3 product managers who are typically responsible for the following: Identifying, evaluating, and building business cases for new opportunities, Building the clinical/medical use case with our medical team, Partnering with Operations and IT to build new solutions and monitor progress, Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to develop an appropriate promotion strategy, Leading the launch team and ensuring that pricing, coding, reporting, training, advertising/promotion, channel strategies and tactics are launch-ready, Monitoring revenue and profitability in partnership with Finance, Medical Affairs, Pricing, and other groups, and implementing adjustments as needed
  • Contribute to the development of the department’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and long-term view of the market by: Conducting market research to stay abreast of market trends and the competitive landscape, Maintaining close relationships with external partners like medical associations and pharmaceutical companies to gain insights, Establishing or maintaining medical advisory committees and patient advocacy groups, if needed
