Sr. Director, Private Equity Partnerships

Blue Orange DigitalJersey City, NJ

About The Position

Blue Orange Digital is hiring a Sr. Director of Private Equity Partnerships to own and grow our PE channel. This is a pure revenue role. You will carry a quota, work your network, and close. If you have spent years building relationships inside the PE ecosystem — with operating partners, deal teams, and portfolio executives — and know how to convert those relationships into signed SOWs, this role was written for you. You will be the first dedicated sales leader for our PE practice. That means building a pipeline from scratch, defining the outreach playbook, and establishing Blue Orange as the go-to AI and data partner for mid-market PE firms. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with our delivery organization to scope and close engagements worth $150K to $1M+. We are a data and AI consultancy. Fluency in our service lines is a plus and will help you close faster, but it is not the foundation we are hiring on. The foundation is your PE network, your sales track record, and your ability to open doors and drive deals to close. If you can also speak intelligently about AI and data transformation in a portfolio context, you will be a force multiplier. Note: Please submit your resume in English, as all application materials must be in English for review and consideration.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic sales, or channel partnerships, with a meaningful portion focused on or within the private equity ecosystem.
  • Documented quota attainment track record. You can articulate what you were responsible for, what you closed, and how you got there.
  • An active, warm PE network spanning operating partners, deal teams, or portfolio company C-suite executives that you can engage on day one.
  • Deep familiarity with how PE firms evaluate and approve vendor spend, structure operating partner relationships, and think about value creation across a portfolio.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles in the $150K–$1M+ range with consultative, needs-based selling.
  • Executive presence and strong written communication skills. You present credibly at the board level and write proposals that move committees.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York City. This role requires in-person meetings, site visits, and event presence.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience selling AI, data engineering, analytics, or technology consulting services into PE-backed companies or directly to PE firms.
  • Background as an Operating Partner, PE-focused management consultant, or advisor to portfolio companies.
  • Ability to frame data and AI solutions in EBITDA and value creation language without requiring technical coaching.
  • Experience building a channel program or PE partnership practice from the ground up at a consultancy or technology firm.
  • Existing relationships with mid-market PE firms operating in BOD's core verticals: financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, CPG, and B2B SaaS.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, or Azure in a sales or advisory context — enough to speak credibly and hand off intelligently.

Responsibilities

  • Own an annual sales quota tied to PE-originated and PE-influenced revenue, with quarterly targets and monthly pipeline reviews with the CEO.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of PE firm relationships and portfolio company opportunities from first contact through signed SOW.
  • Structure and negotiate deal terms for engagements ranging from $25K assessments to $500K+ multi-phase deployments.
  • Forecast accurately and maintain CRM hygiene in HubSpot so leadership has real-time visibility into deal health and close probability.
  • Activate your existing PE network immediately: operating partners, managing directors, deal teams, and C-level portfolio executives.
  • Attend PE-focused conferences, operating partner summits, and industry events to build name recognition and source opportunities.
  • Build referral flywheels where a successful engagement at one portfolio company generates warm introductions to others within the same fund.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships through quarterly business reviews, proactive outreach, and consistent follow-through — not just transactional deal-by-deal contact.
  • Lead discovery sessions with PE operating partners and portfolio executives to diagnose data and AI maturity, identify quick wins, and scope engagements.
  • Translate Blue Orange's technical capabilities into PE-native business language: EBITDA improvement, cost optimization, revenue acceleration, and exit readiness.
  • Build compelling business cases that pass investment committee scrutiny and align with PE hold-period timelines and return expectations.
  • Coordinate with Account Executives and delivery leads to build tailored proposals and ensure smooth handoffs to delivery teams post-close.
  • Define the PE sales playbook: outreach sequences, discovery frameworks, proposal templates, and objection-handling guides that scale as the practice grows.
  • Provide continuous market feedback to the CEO and delivery teams, surfacing what PE buyers actually care about and where BOD should build or sharpen its offerings.
  • Represent Blue Orange as a thought leader in the PE + AI space, contributing to white papers, event panels, and client-facing content that opens doors.
  • Potentially build and mentor a junior channel team as the PE practice scales beyond year one.

Benefits

  • Commission Uncapped. Accelerators kick in above 100% quota attainment.
  • Activity bonuses for pipeline milestones and sales threshold performance bonuses.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Retirement 401(k) with company matching
  • All conference, event, client visit, and per diem expenses covered
