Sr. Director of Product Management, Core Platform

SandboxAQ
$188,800 - $354,000Remote

About The Position

SandboxAQ's AI Simulation (AISim) division develops and applies Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) that are grounded in physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology to simulate molecular behavior with scientific precision and accelerate discovery in the physical world across biopharma, chemicals, advanced materials, healthcare, and so much more. The AISim division is looking for a seasoned Senior Director of Product Management reporting to the Vice President of Product to own the product strategy and roadmap for the shared platform foundation that underpins both the BioSim and ChemSim businesses. This senior leadership role involves building, growing, and managing a team of 5-6 PM ICs across ML Platform, Data, Agentic, Core Infrastructure, Trust, and Partner integrations, while remaining directly involved in day-to-day execution until the team is fully ramped. This role will drive end-to-end platform strategy, vision, and execution, including critical build-vs-buy decisions. Additionally, they will establish data-driven operating rhythms, define metrics to measure success, and be accountable for platform OKRs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in product management, including 5+ years managing individual contributors.
  • Strong platform or infrastructure product background — e.g., MLOps, data platforms, scientific engines, or developer tools.
  • A track record of building and shipping enterprise-grade commercial platforms.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and enterprise security/compliance (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, FedRAMP) and API governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and turn unclear customer problems into scalable products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or equivalent business leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML platform requirements across inference, training, fine-tuning, agentic AI, and federated learning.
  • Deep domain expertise in scientific simulation software for drug discovery and/or materials research.
  • PhD in Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Physically located in the Greater Seattle Metropolitan area or SF Bay Area

Responsibilities

  • Set and own end-to-end platform strategy, vision, and roadmap across BioSim and ChemSim, including build-vs-buy decisions.
  • Hire, grow, and lead a team of 5-6 PM ICs across ML Platform, Data, Agentic, Core Infrastructure, Trust, and Partner Integrations — driving key deliverables personally until the team is fully ramped.
  • Balance competing internal and external customer needs across several distinct domains.
  • Establish a data-driven operating rhythm: define the metrics that matter, present them in business reviews, bridge variances to OKRs, and drive course corrections.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents with generous employer premium contributions
  • Retirement savings with company matching
  • Paid parental leave
  • Inclusive family-building benefits
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Company-wide seasonal breaks
