The Senior Director, Operations - NYC drives consistency of execution in  the NYC region, establishing Bloomingdale’s as the local leader of operational success and financial discipline.. The Senior Director is focused on delivering sales, SG&A, and EBIT by dreaming big in their support of central and stores initiatives, pushing the envelope on what bold and innovative means for the NYC Region, including our iconic 59th St Flagship. Partnering with the regional, store, and central teams this leader understands, supports, and responds to the needs of the region decisively and strategically to make things happen. They build and cultivate a motivated, skilled and equipped leadership team. This leader is responsible for developing and implementing processes that will drive top line sales, manage expense, and maximize profitability, all while placing the customer first, always. This is achieved through managing and developing a team of strong professional and hourly colleagues, building together to ensure best practices are executed, and guaranteeing we always create a best-in-class shopping environment in our stores

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 10+ years direct experience in a retail environment
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution
  • Strong operational, financial acumen, and business judgment
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels
  • Strategic, creative, and analytical thinker with a strong attention to detail
  • Clear, compelling communicator who values transparency and keeps stakeholders informed
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs

Responsibilities

  • Manage expense to financial plan by overseeing Operational KPIs and ownership of expense strategy in the Region, taking appropriate partners on accurate sales/expense forecasting, achieving all productivity metrics including Sales, SG&A, Shortage, EBIT, Productivity, HUR, inventory movement KPIs, and fulfillment
  • Drive merchandise execution and building standards consistently to support a best-in-class store environment that supports an exceptional customer experience.
  • Ensure consistent review of daily, weekly, monthly operations reporting to mitigate opportunities and drive invest/divest strategies
  • Work with cross functional partners to coordinate, drive, and optimize operational execution of inbound/outbound merchandise
  • Ensure 100% compliance in the stores with seasonal shortage reduction strategies, including action plan development, execution, and follow-up, and inventory execution.
  • Champion regional adoption of logistics and fulfillment execution standards to meet evolving business needs and customer expectations
  • Serve as the ultimate role model of customer first, always. Consistently demonstrate the urgency of servicing the customer in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Ensure that Operations teams understand that the customer is the number 1 priority and are capable of providing outstanding service as measured by Fulfillment and NPS results.
  • Daily review and weekly analysis of Net Promoter Survey results, with focus on “Clean, Neat, Easy to Shop”.
  • Partner with stores to maintain and address all facilities issues, focusing on maintenance needs, housekeeping issues, and general store presentation.
  • Lead regional transformation initiatives that elevate store environments and improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee renovation and construction projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity optimization, process simplification, and operational modernization.
  • Embed and reinforce Operating Principles across the region through clear communication, accountability, and culture-building.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain executive and hourly operations professionals who can support an elevated selling and service culture within a fast-paced, promotional environment.
  • Partner with RDOS, General Managers, and Operations leadership on regional succession planning and bench-strength development.
  • Identify and activate business opportunities through strategic placement, development, and deployment of operations talent.
