About The Position

As Sr Director Government Relations -US Marine Corps you will drive initiatives to support the development and implementation of corporate policy through strategic partnerships with government and industry groups. You'll be responsible for representing the company on US Marine Corps related Government Affairs with elected officials and government officials in regulatory agencies and ensure appropriate company participation in maritime forums and industry group meetings. You'll develop key relationships with designated trade and business associations, and advocacy groups on maritime regulatory issues of importance to the company and ensure communications on behalf of the company are clear and consistent. You'll also monitor federal proposals to support the assessment of USMC opportunities available within and beyond our existing markets, offerings and business models. Our team is responsible for government affairs, international strategy, international business, and trade and regulatory compliance. We provide strategic guidance across the organization, helping to find alignment and compliance between SNC and the national security priorities of the U.S. government.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience, with at least 8+ years in a senior management role.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-stakes advocacy efforts.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience serving as the liaison between a corporation and government with experience effectively communicating with senior executives regarding governmental policy threats and opportunities
  • Ability to possess a strategic mindset in order to navigate, affect, and/or lead complex initiatives with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; ability to establish and develop relationships, coalitions, and partnerships with ease.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.
  • Must be able to work in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Effective hand/finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • This position requires current/active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.
  • Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

  • Familiarity and experience with USMC operational and acquisition organizations including Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL), Marine Corps and Naval Aviation, USMC programs to include Expeditionary Air Defense, Counter UAS, Electronic Warfare, Electronic Support Measures /SIGINT, open architecture aviation systems, and other naval aviation opportunities.
  • Extensive network of senior-level connections within government and industry.
  • Proven leadership experience in senior government relations or public policy roles.
  • Possess a track record of delivering results by developing and implementing advocacy programs in the executive branch.
  • Demonstrated first-hand familiarity with executive branch politics, processes, customs, and ethics.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the formulation and execution of advanced strategies to support the company’s long-term objectives.
  • Cultivate and leverage senior-level relationships with officials in the Executive Branch to include DoD, Commands, Services and Agencies
  • Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on government relations matters.
  • Develop and deliver high-impact policy briefings, position papers, and advocacy campaigns to internal and external audiences.
  • Oversee the company’s participation in significant government forums and industry group meetings.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure government relations activities are integrated with business strategies.
  • Guide and mentor the government relations team, promoting professional development and high performance.
  • Analyze and forecast budgetary and regulatory trends, advising on potential impacts and opportunities.
  • Execute high-level outreach campaigns to build awareness and support for the company's policy positions.
