About The Position

This role serves as the Finance Executive sponsor for cross-functional initiatives, overseeing the compilation of quantitative and qualitative information and collaborating across the organization to support strategic initiatives. The Sr. Director assists and directs the development of viable solutions, ensuring they are vetted for risk, accuracy, feasibility, and cross-departmental/system-wide impact. The position is responsible for advancing and achieving strategic Finance objectives on enterprise-wide initiatives, fostering decision-making, and driving change in support of Carilion Clinic’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
  • Seven years experience in healthcare finance, accounting or financial planning

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in business administration or related field desirable.
  • CPA desirable

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Finance Executive sponsor for cross-functional initiatives.
  • Responsible for oversight of compilation of quantitative and qualitative information and collaborating across the organization to support organizational strategic initiatives.
  • Assists and directs development of viable solutions that have been vetted for risk, accuracy, feasibility and cross department/system wide impact.
  • Responsible for ensuring strategic Finance objectives are advanced and achieved on enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Foster decision making and driving change in support of Carilion Clinic’s mission.
  • Supervises Financial Directors and directs financial planning and financial evaluation.
  • Identifies and communicates areas of focus and action plans to execute financial goals and strategies.
  • Serves as a member of management team.
  • Directs the development of operating and capital budgets.
  • Helps establish and monitor financial metrics and prepare budget variance analyses.
  • Coordinates and/or performs short and long range financial analyses using appropriate techniques.
  • Analyzes financial impact of proposed contracts and recommends execution.
  • Analyzes operational issues affecting designated areas and the whole organization and determine their financial impact.
  • Evaluates and recommends business opportunities.
  • Expected to be a decision-maker and problem solver; able to find unique and efficient ways to solve difficult and complex problems.
  • Provides financial education to designated areas.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with revenue cycle management, treasury, audit, tax, accounting decision support and insurance departments on behalf of designated areas.
