About The Position

The Senior Director, Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis is a senior finance leader within the Shoppers Drug Mart Finance organization, reporting directly to the SVP, Finance. This role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and is responsible for leading the financial reporting, forecasting, planning, and capital management functions for the consolidated Shoppers Drug Mart division. The successful candidate will combine strong financial acumen with strategic thinking, business partnership, and operational insight to drive decision-making across the organization. Working closely with Finance leaders, business executives, and enterprise partners, this individual will provide actionable financial insights, shape strategic priorities, and support long-term value creation. This role requires a highly collaborative and influential leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can effectively balance strategic priorities with operational excellence. The Senior Director will lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles managing and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business performance management processes within a complex organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to connect financial results to broader business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and communicate effectively with executive audiences.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, business transformations, and process improvement efforts.
  • Strong financial modeling, scenario analysis, and decision-support capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic perspective with operational execution and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a track record of building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in retail, pharmacy, consumer products, merchandising finance, or related industries is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the periodic, quarterly, and annual close, consolidation, and financial reporting processes for the Shoppers Drug Mart division.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial analysis, highlighting key performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Lead executive-level reporting and presentations supporting divisional leadership, enterprise finance teams, and external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure consistency, integrity, and transparency of financial information across the division.
  • Lead the end-to-end forecasting, financial governance, annual budgeting, and multi-year strategic planning processes for the division.
  • Develop financial scenarios, sensitivity analyses, and strategic models to support business decisions and resource allocation.
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate growth initiatives, operational improvements, investments, and strategic opportunities.
  • Act as the primary finance liaison for internal and external audit activities, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee key corporate accounting and financial governance processes as required.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, creating opportunities for growth, learning, and career progression.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented team culture.
  • Build organizational capability by promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the finance function.
  • Lead the annual capital planning process, including prioritization.
