Reporting to the Executive Director Medical Affairs & Advocacy Engagement, the Field Medical Lead at Structure Therapeutics is a senior, field-based scientific leader responsible for advancing the company’s medical and clinical objectives through high-impact engagement with external stakeholders. This role serves as a critical extension of the Medical Affairs and Advocacy organization, operating at the intersection of clinical science, healthcare delivery, and strategic insight generation. As a trusted scientific partner, the Field Medical Lead builds and sustains deep relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, healthcare professionals, and patient communities, facilitating the exchange of scientific information related to the company’s pipeline and therapeutic focus areas. The role requires a high level of expertise in interpreting and communicating clinical and translational data, particularly in fast-evolving therapeutic landscapes. The Field Medical Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting clinical development programs by identifying and engaging top investigators, and providing field-based insights that inform study design, feasibility, and execution. In parallel, the individual gathers and synthesizes external insights—including treatment patterns, unmet medical needs, and competitive intelligence—to shape internal medical strategy and decision-making.

Requirements

  • MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant scientific field
  • 10+ years in biotech/pharma
  • Strong background in metabolic diseases (e.g., obesity, type 2 diabetes)
  • Prior experience as: Senior MSL
  • Prior experience as: Field Medical Director / Lead
  • Deep scientific expertise in metabolism.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Leadership and team management ability
  • Strategic thinking with execution focus

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in obesity, type 2 diabetes, or incretin-based therapies is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and healthcare providers
  • Present clinical and scientific data on metabolic therapies
  • Lead high-level scientific discussions on disease state and treatment landscape
  • Represent the company at medical and community congresses
  • Generate and execute the Field Medical Plan aligned with global medical strategy
  • Leads the build-out and hiring of the Field Medical organization, establishing team structure, capabilities, and best practices
  • Identify insights from the field and translate them into actionable strategy
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Preclinical, Clinical Development, Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal)
  • Support Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) and real-world evidence studies
  • Gather and synthesize medical insights from HCP interactions
  • Inform clinical development plans and lifecycle management
  • Partner with Clinical development (trial design considerations, medical insights, n met medical need)
  • Partner with Clinical Operations (investigator needs and engagement)
  • Partner with Market access (value messaging)
  • Partner with Commercial teams (compliant scientific support)
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory and ethical standards
