About The Position

The Senior Director, Brand Communications develops and executes integrated communications strategies spanning brand and product storytelling, campaigns, media relations, executive positioning, and recognition programs. In close partnership with cross-functional teams, the Senior Director ensures cohesive, year-round communications that advance business objectives and strengthen brand reputation.

Requirements

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 10-15 plus years of experience in Communications, Media Relations, or a related field.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on department and company needs.
  • Able to travel for key company initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute external communications strategies for major merchandising and marketing programs, supporting company growth and key initiatives including product launches, collaborations, vendor partnerships, seasonal campaigns, social impact campaigns and marquee tentpoles—driving meaningful media coverage.
  • Lead insight-driven, integrated brand campaigns with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with traditional and non-traditional media, with an emphasis on national outlets and priority markets.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term communications strategies for national and regional events and product launches.
  • Monitor trends across earned, owned, and paid media to inform and evolve communications strategies.
  • Leverage consumer communications to increase brand relevance, alignment, and affinity at the national, regional, and local levels.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson and senior communications leader.
  • Manage and negotiate budgets while consistently demonstrating the ROI and business value of communications.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel grounded in a deep understanding of internal and external environments; develop and implement effective communications plans in partnership with the team and broader department.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with leaders at all levels, as well as agencies, partners, vendors, community organizations, key media, and influencers.
  • Provide on-site communications support in New York City during select holidays and major initiatives, including evenings and weekends, for events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, Flower Show, holiday events, and Black Friday.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
