About The Position

The Sr. Director of AI & Data Engineering leads the architecture, design, development, and implementation of end-to-end data and AI products across the Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain organization. The role establishes strategic and operational excellence by creating scalable patterns aligned with T-Mobile’s northstar architecture; developing data ingestion and egress pipelines and system integrations; building data products around models that reflect Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain business processes; and enhancing the organization’s Lakehouse platform in line with best practices. The position supports business decisions by sustaining existing platforms and developing and deploying intelligent data products, platforms, capabilities, architectures, information products, and AI products that drive business outcomes. It sets strategic direction for information solutions, leads a leadership team addressing enterprise information-management issues, promotes innovative AI products with business and technology stakeholders, and supports evaluation of software, vendors, platforms, and capabilities. The role also builds, manages, mentors, and inspires teams while fostering autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, transparency, innovation, and learning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
10–15+ years of experience leading strategy, innovation, and architecture for data projects and products.
10+ years of experience in a technical field, AI, data science, and analytics.
7+ years of proven leadership experience in data engineering and architecture, focused on end-to-end data product strategy.
7+ years of advanced knowledge of data tools, techniques, and manipulation, including cloud platforms, programming languages, and technology platforms.
Demonstrated success building and leading the vision, strategy, and execution of foundational data and information product initiatives, including successful platform adoption programs and the ability to demonstrate business impact.
Ability to assess the business impact of solutions and trade-offs among customer needs, technology requirements, and costs.
Experience facilitating data-driven decisions and analyzing, planning, and managing information-product development.
Deep understanding of and passion for solving complex system and data challenges; ability to thrive in a changing, innovative, and collaborative environment.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and operational business partners, to identify data requirements and ensure data availability.
Experience developing and implementing large scalable systems and best practices and standards for data management, governance, and security.
Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations to establish and maintain policies, standards, and procedures for data and reporting quality and integrity.
Ability to build, manage, mentor, and inspire teams and manage performance, goals, and development potential.

Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of production-ready data and AI solutions that are robust, scalable, and secure in the cloud using defined enterprise design patterns.
Establish and drive strategic direction for end-to-end information solutions aligned with strategic priorities and enterprise direction.
Lead a leadership team in resolving enterprise information-management issues and improving information quality, reliability, and scalability.
Establish scalable patterns aligned with T-Mobile’s northstar architecture.
Lead data ingestion and egress, including pipeline development and system integrations.
Develop data products based on data models reflecting Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain business processes.
Develop the data platform by enhancing the Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain Center of Excellence’s Lakehouse and following best practices.
Sustain existing platforms and develop and deploy intelligent data products, platforms, capabilities, architectures, information products, and AI products that drive business outcomes.
Promote innovative products, such as AI, in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
Support investigation of software packages, vendors, platforms, and capabilities for delivering quality, reliable, and scalable information and AI products.
Support other business initiatives across the team, bringing flexibility and added value.
Build, manage, mentor, and inspire teams; manage performance, goals, and development potential.
