About The Position

The Sr. Director of AI & Data Engineering leads the architecture, design, development, and implementation of end-to-end data and AI products across the Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain organization. The role establishes scalable patterns aligned with T-Mobile’s northstar architecture, oversees data ingestion and egress through pipeline development and system integrations, develops data products reflecting Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain business processes, and advances the organization’s Lakehouse platform in accordance with best practices. The position supports business decisions by sustaining existing platforms and developing and deploying intelligent data products, platforms, capabilities, architectures, information products, and AI products that drive business outcomes. It sets strategic direction for information solutions in alignment with enterprise priorities, leads teams addressing information-management challenges, and promotes innovative products in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders. The Sr. Director also supports the evaluation of software packages, vendors, platforms, and capabilities, and contributes to other business initiatives across the team. The role calls for a leader who can set vision and strategy, measure business impact, facilitate data-driven decisions, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and establish best practices for data management, governance, security, and quality. The Sr. Director builds, manages, mentors, and inspires teams while fostering autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, transparency, innovation, and learning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
10–15+ years of experience leading strategy, innovation, and architecture for data projects and products.
10+ years of experience in a technical field, AI, data science, and analytics.
7+ years of proven leadership experience in data engineering and architecture, focused on end-to-end data product strategy.
7+ years of advanced knowledge of data tools, techniques, and manipulation, including cloud platforms, programming languages, and technology platforms.
Demonstrated success building and leading vision, strategy, and execution for foundational data and information product initiatives, including platform adoption programs and showing their business impact.
Experience assessing business impact and trade-offs among customer needs, technology requirements, and costs.
A data-driven mindset and experience facilitating data-driven decisions while analyzing, planning, and managing information product development.
Deep understanding of and interest in solving complex system and data challenges, and ability to thrive in an innovative, changing, collaborative environment.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and operational business partners, to identify data requirements and ensure data availability.
Experience developing and implementing large-scale systems and best practices and standards for data management, governance, and security.
Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations to establish and maintain policies, standards, and procedures that ensure data and reporting quality and integrity.
Ability to build, manage, mentor, and inspire teams and manage performance, goals, and development potential.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design, development, and implementation of production-ready data and AI solutions that are robust, scalable, and secure in the cloud using enterprise design patterns.
Establish scalable patterns aligned with T-Mobile’s northstar architecture.
Oversee data ingestion and egress, including pipeline development and system integrations.
Develop data products based on a data model reflecting Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain business processes.
Develop the data platform, enhancing the Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain Center of Excellence’s Lakehouse in line with best practices.
Sustain existing platforms and develop and deploy intelligent data products, platforms, capabilities, architectures, information products, and AI products that support business decisions and outcomes.
Establish and drive strategic direction for end-to-end information solutions in alignment with strategic priorities and enterprise direction.
Lead a leadership team in solving enterprise information-management issues and improving information quality, reliability, and scalability.
Promote innovative products, including AI, in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
Support investigation of software packages, vendors, platforms, and capabilities for delivering quality, reliable, and scalable information and AI products.
Assess solution impacts and trade-offs among customer needs, technology requirements, and costs.
Facilitate data-driven decisions and ensure product development is measured for business impact.
Collaborate with IT and operational business partners to identify data requirements and ensure data availability for stakeholders.
Develop and implement scalable systems and best practices and standards for data management, governance, and security; establish and maintain policies, standards, and procedures that support data and reporting quality and integrity.
