About The Position

The Senior Director, Pediatrics Business Administration serves as a key leader and advisor as part of the Department Leadership Team. This individual is the primary point of contact for day-to-day operational management impacting the department processes, especially as it relates to the interaction with LCMG and the medical center. This individual oversees Division Administrators but also serves as the senior leader over central department functions of Medical Education and Faculty Development and Primary Care. This individual will advise the Executive Director in setting strategic priorities to align departmental operations to support achievement of department and medical center goals, partner on development and implementation of improved policies and procedures, and will work with department and hospital leadership teams on initiatives to enable the department and organization to achieve its strategic, operational and financial goals. The Senior Director is responsible for development and oversight of the department’s budget, business operations and analytics, and plays a critical role in driving strategic, operational, and financial improvement throughout the department.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive responsibility in healthcare operations management, preferably at an academic medical center.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform business analysis to determine best use of resources to complete complex tasks and projects; must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment with changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate analyses into actionable information for decision-making at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of forming collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians and administrative leaders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff in a changing environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience, specifically in physician practice finance or management or in a clinical department at an academic medical center preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the operations of an academic department and ability to provide initiative and leadership to enhance operations and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze all pertinent information/data to make recommendations to meet the department’s current academic and administrative needs.
  • Experience Power BI and CPSC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Executive Director in the management of departmental operations and execution of the department’s strategic plan as it relates to budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration, human resource utilization, policy development and administration, and annual operating plan goals.
  • Leads or provides support for managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects focused on integration with LCMG and medical center initiatives and planned growth.
  • In partnership with the LCMG Business Operations team, supports the department and divisional leadership teams in the development and analysis of the annual operating budget; supports departmental efforts in monitoring progress against budget.
  • Partners with the Executive Director to lead annual operating budget initiatives related to revenue growth and expense management goals.
  • Establishes a system for proactive monitoring of monthly financials, productivity review and access management at the department and division-level, recommending action where appropriate.
  • Serves as liaison to Division Administrators and Division Heads in operational, financial and budgetary management for their respective programs.
  • Partners with other Departmental leadership to ensure the effective management of faculty effort allocation, clinical activity tracking, and productivity reporting and management; Partners with Departmental leadership to evaluate the standards utilized for effort allocation and clinical activity tracking.
  • Partners with department and divisional leadership teams to identify and implement opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Represents the Department of Pediatrics leadership team at appropriate LCMG and medical center committees or initiatives.
  • Serves as a liaison with faculty and faculty leadership in the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with institutional peers, serves as departmental liaison, helps ensure that the department is responsive to institutional requests and completes projects in a timely fashion.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of direct reports through various human resources activities including: staffing, scheduling, recruitment/selection, orientation and training, employee development, and performance evaluation and management.
