Requirements

  • Hold an airline transport pilot certificate;
  • Have at least 3 years supervisory or management experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted with large airplanes.
  • In the case of a person becoming a Director of Operations, for the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as PIC of a large airplane operated under Part 121.
  • In the case of a person becoming a Director of Operations, with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years experience as PIC of a large airplane operated under Part 121.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • International Flight Operations experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Operations directly supervises the Assistant Director of Operations, Manager of Flight Dispatch, Manager of Crew Resources, Manager of Operations Planning, and the Airway Publications Assistants.
  • Monitoring the dispatch facilities to ensure that its size, scope, personnel and equipment are sufficient to release and monitor flights.
  • Responsible for the quality of the Operational Control process and has the authority to establish and modify the policies, procedures, instructions and information for the Operational Control process.
  • Operational control of all company aircraft including initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of all flights in compliance with all applicable FARs and the Operations Specifications.
  • Canceling, diverting, or delaying a flight if in his opinion or the opinion of the Pilot in Command the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.
  • Monitoring of each flight with respect to the following: Departure of the flight from the place of origin and arrival at the place of destination, including intermediate stops and any diversions there from. Any known conditions that may adversely affect the safety of flight.
  • The Director of Operations is jointly responsible with the Director of Maintenance to ensure compliance with all elements of the Omni Deice/Anti-Ice program.
  • The Director of Operations will terminate, restrict, or suspend operations when conditions are known to be hazardous until those conditions are corrected.
  • Coordinates with maintenance on aircraft scheduling.
  • The Director of Operations or designee is responsible for the quality of the RVSM and ETOPS processes and has the authority to establish and modify the policies, procedures, instructions, and information that is associated with RVSM and ETOPS.
  • The Director of Operations or designee will work jointly with maintenance to ensure that all policies, procedures, instructions and information concerning RVSM and ETOPS are written in enough detail to preclude a breakdown or discontinuity in operation.
  • Distributes and maintains all company operation manuals, notifies appropriate personnel of procedure changes, hazardous conditions of flight and ground operations.
  • Ensures operations are conducted in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the company’s Air Carrier / Operator Certificate and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards of the company.
  • Maintains close liaison with domestic and international regulatory authorities; original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors; and other external entities relevant to flight operations.
