Sr. DevOps Engineer

LiveRamp, Inc.•San Francisco, CA
•$130,000 - $196,500

About The Position

LiveRamp is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer for a platform-focused team that builds and operates infrastructure foundations for its global data collaboration platform. The team owns shared compute, networking, storage, Kubernetes-based orchestration, CI/CD, and observability platforms used by product engineering teams. The role addresses scalability, multi-cloud and hybrid environments, cost optimization, and reliability for large-scale data and streaming workloads. The engineer will partner with service owners to provide paved roads for building, deploying, and running services, and will collaborate with Security, SRE, and Architecture groups to define standards, evolve the platform roadmap, and deliver migrations, resilience programs, and compliance-driven changes. The role includes leading infrastructure design and operations, supporting AI-powered development, owning production services, and advancing reliability, security, delivery automation, and developer productivity. The position also involves mentoring engineers, leading and participating in on-call rotations, and defining success metrics for reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. The approximate annual base compensation range is $130,000 to $196,500. Actual compensation depends on factors including experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, geography, and internal equity.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a closely related role, including significant experience operating production systems at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and building secure, reliable, cost-conscious cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong expertise with containers and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes, including multi-tenant cluster design, deployment management, and complex runtime troubleshooting.
  • A proven track record implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Helm, and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Experience building and operating observability stacks for metrics, logs, and traces, and using them to diagnose and remediate production issues.
  • Strong programming or scripting skills in at least one language commonly used for DevOps, such as Python, Go, Ruby, or Bash, and comfort with Linux internals and debugging.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex technical initiatives across teams, influence architectural decisions, and communicate tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience participating in or leading incident response, post-incident reviews, and reliability programs.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and an interest in mentoring other engineers in DevOps and reliability practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Terraform, GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Spinnaker.
  • Experience developing and deploying AI agents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and operation of highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure for LiveRamp’s core platform and data collaboration products.
  • Enable AI-powered engineering development by integrating AI assistants, agentic frameworks, and large language models into the software development life cycle.
  • Own critical production services end to end, including capacity planning, performance tuning, observability, reliability, and incident response, with clear SLOs and error budgets.
  • Architect and evolve CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and release automation for fast, safe, and repeatable delivery across microservices.
  • Drive the infrastructure-as-code strategy to make environments reproducible, auditable, and easy to change.
  • Advise product engineering teams on resilient service design, resource optimization, and DevOps best practices.
  • Lead and participate in on-call rotations, improve incident management, and implement preventive measures to reduce MTTR and high-severity incidents.
  • Promote security-by-design, collaborating with security and compliance teams to harden systems, manage secrets, and maintain audit-ready infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, introduce, and standardize tools for logging, metrics, tracing, configuration management, and workflow orchestration.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, technical talks, and feedback.
  • Define and track reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, and operational-excellence metrics, using data to prioritize and communicate tradeoffs and investments.
