About The Position

Council Capital is a healthcare-focused private equity firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, managing over $350 million in committed capital. They invest in lower middle market healthcare companies where they see the potential to scale purpose and performance. Their investments span control and minority positions in businesses with enterprise values between $10 million and $100 million. The Council Model is a proven framework that surrounds founders and leadership teams with a powerful combination of support: their CEO Council of seasoned operators, their Strategic Healthcare Investors who bring real-world insight and access, and their internal Value Creation Team, focused on enabling growth through talent, systems, and strategy. At Council Capital, they are not just backing companies—they’re helping build enduring businesses that improve lives and shape the future of healthcare. Alivia Analytics is a healthcare technology company focused on payment integrity. They build systems that help payers and government programs identify, prevent, and recover improper payments. Their work sits at the intersection of healthcare claims data, machine learning, and cloud infrastructure that must be both fast and audit-ready. They are growing, and the engineering organization is investing in the platform foundations that will support the next phase of Alivia. This Sr. DevOps Engineer role is a key piece of that investment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, with recent hands-on technical responsibility in production environments.
  • Production-grade Terraform experience. You can design, operate, and deploy complex IaC patterns at scale, not just write modules.
  • Deep cloud experience: AWS as primary going forward, Azure for the current state. Strong on AWS, working knowledge of Azure.
  • CI/CD pipeline design and operation, ideally with GitHub Actions. End-to-end automation from commit to customer.
  • Container orchestration in production (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman).
  • Linux infrastructure proficiency, including shell scripting. Comfortable in mixed Windows / Linux transitional environments.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing technical designs, improving team practices, or leading technical workstreams.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration. You build credibility with engineering, security, and operations teams through competence, follow-through, and clear communication.
  • Self-directed. You can read a problem, make a call, and own the outcome without escalating every decision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with regulated data (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.).
  • Prior software development background, or direct support of software development teams. You understand the application lifecycle from the inside, not just from the operations side, as well as modern workflows such as sprints, scrum/kanban, story pointing, etc.
  • Past experience scaling a DevOps function from a small team to a real organization.
  • Past experience helping a DevOps, platform, or infrastructure team mature its practices, automation, documentation, and operating standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical contributor on the DevOps team, providing strong hands-on engineering, technical guidance, and mentorship to other team members.
  • Design and operate our deployment automation, from GitHub through to customer environments, using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
  • Develop automated IaC and code pipelines for fully automated CI/CD processes.
  • Set the standard for infrastructure as code. Target 95 percent IaC coverage of our AWS infrastructure within 12 months.
  • Move our application architecture toward cloud-native patterns (ECS, Kubernetes).
  • Drive the active migration from Azure-heavy infrastructure toward an AWS-forward future state, while keeping current Azure workloads stable.
  • Drive improvements in cloud cost. Reduce Azure and AWS spend through architectural and operational discipline.
  • Bake security and compliance into infrastructure by default. Support HITRUST and SOC 2 control requirements as a built-in capability, not an afterthought.
  • Partner closely with engineering, security, and product teams to ensure infrastructure decisions support product delivery, operational stability, security, and compliance requirements.

Benefits

  • Base salary range: Starting at $150,000, dependent on experience.
  • Performance bonus per company plan.
  • Standard health, dental, vision, and PTO.
