About The Position

The role involves driving the definition and implementation of solutions for modern applications, leading feature delivery on a cloud-native AWS stack, owning user stories from refinement to production, developing event-driven, serverless application workflows using Lambda and Step Functions, integrating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products with internal system frameworks, and designing/delivering API interconnections. Adaptability and a demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts, systems, and tools are crucial as projects complete and priorities shift. The work is described as real, hard, and important, with opportunities to move to where the hardest problems are. The company focuses on building modern, cloud-native systems that provide business value through streamlined, automated operation, delivering tested code, automation that replaces manual processes, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated tests, and utilizing AI-assisted development practices. Developers are expected to improve the team and contribute to new capabilities, tools, and lines of business in time.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship (this initial engagement may be staffed by U.S. citizens only) and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • Expert-level command of Python
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native development on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Proficiency with modern languages and frameworks
  • Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Experience with secure coding
  • Ability to construct and own the design of a component, and to carry it through to production
  • Communication to explain work in plain language and to hear what is needed back
  • Precision to work where accuracy and auditability are not optional

Responsibilities

  • Leading feature delivery on a cloud-native AWS stack, owning user stories from refinement through to production
  • Leading the development of event-driven, serverless application workflows using Lambda and Step Functions
  • Owning the integration of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products with broader, internally developed system frameworks
  • Designing and delivering the API interconnections that modern system architectures depend on
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated tests
  • Utilizing AI-assisted development as standard practice
