Sr. Design Validation and Test Engineer

Lucid Motors•Newark, NJ

About The Position

The LV Test and Validation team verifies the reliability, electrical performance, and compliance of low-voltage vehicle electronics. The team works with LVEE hardware design engineers and internal and external laboratories to produce decision-ready validation evidence. Its work spans component testing, test automation, failure investigation, and laboratory operations. As a Sr. Design Validation and Test Engineer, you will deliver component-level hardware validation and software-automated ECU test systems. Reporting to the Low-Voltage Test and Validation manager, you will work closely with design engineers and laboratory partners to complete DVP commitments on time. You will combine hands-on execution with disciplined analysis, documentation, and issue closure. Success in the first year means repeatable tests, complete evidence, and timely resolution of issues affecting current and future vehicle programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5-10 years of hardware testing experience; automotive experience is a plus.
  • Experience applying GMW3172, ISO 16750, IEC 60068, and other environmental testing standards.
  • Hands-on experience with thermal chambers, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, and related test equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with Gigabit Ethernet, FPD-Link, CAN, SPI, I2C, LIN, RS232, A2B, GMSL, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
  • Ability to design and implement test systems that simulate ECUs and solve hardware-test issues, with disciplined analysis and collaboration with design engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive digital and analog/mixed-signal circuit testing and LV124 automotive test execution experience.
  • Experience with RTStand LV124, vector network analyzers, spectrum and vector signal analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and arbitrary waveform generators.
  • Ability to derive test cases from product requirements and design or analyze procedures to minimize measurement error.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and interfaces such as Ethernet/IP.
  • Proficiency with measurement automation and scripting tools such as Python and LabVIEW.
  • EMC/EMI testing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hardware design engineers to develop hardware verification plans and executable tests for ECU performance and limitations.
  • Execute DVT, functional verification, and LV124 electrical testing and analyze results against functional and performance specifications.
  • Design, build, and program hardware test systems, ECU simulations, test sequences, and automated results reports.
  • Maintain test setups, plans, results, and issue records in Confluence and JIRA so validation decisions remain traceable.
  • Work with the design team to investigate test failures, identify causes, and verify corrective actions.
  • Research advanced measurement techniques and refine test methods to improve repeatability, accuracy, and schedule delivery.
