Summary Responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of the Firm's database systems. Will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, platform engineers and product architects to design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable database solutions. Location This position can sit in any of our U.S. offices and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Specific experience must include proficiency with document management systems, capacity planning, application integration, security, disaster recovery, monitoring, configuration and maintenance for all DLA systems and integrated applications.
  • Must have excellent SQL and database administration skills.
  • Good technical skills required to provide interpretation and communication/negotiation between technical resources.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to technical staff, all levels of end users, vendors and management.
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills required to manage a variety of complex projects and assignments.
  • High School or GED
  • 6 years' experience in Information Technology with at least two years in a lead or supervisory position
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
  • Foster positive work relationships
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed

  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable database architectures with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and other issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
  • Perform database capacity planning and resource utilization analysis to ensure adequate scalability and efficient resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to provide guidance and support in optimizing database queries, data models, and application integration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and issues including storage, performance, availability, data integrity and database security.
  • Implement and enforce security and access control measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Proactively identify potential issues, risks, and areas for improvement in the database infrastructure and propose and implement solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies, tools, and best practices, and recommend their adoption when appropriate.
  • Performs and automates database management, maintenance, and data processing activities.
  • Create and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to detect and prevent issues before they impact our users and applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability of our systems and services
  • Lead and mentor developers and other data team members
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk
  • Document processes related to database design, configuration, standards, and performance
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
