We’re looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team supporting mission-critical systems. This role is ideal for a mid- to senior-level professional who thrives in secure environments and brings broad experience across database administration, AWS, and DevOps practices. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing database systems that directly support high-impact operations across both on-premises and cloud environments.
Requirements
- Active Security Clearance (Secret or higher)
- 4–8+ years of database administration experience (mid to senior level)
- Hands-on experience managing any major database platforms (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience working in AWS cloud environments (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.)
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git)
- Proficiency in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and query optimization
- Experience with backup/recovery, replication, and high availability setups
- Solid understanding of security and compliance requirements in controlled environments
Nice To Haves
- Experience with PostgreSQL (including Aurora PostgreSQL) and/or Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience supporting federal or defense environments
- Familiarity with data migration and ETL processes
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database systems (relational and/or NoSQL)
- Support and manage databases across on-premises and cloud (AWS) environments
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and indexing
- Manage database backups, recovery strategies, and high availability solutions
- Deploy and manage database infrastructure in AWS environments (RDS, EC2, Aurora, etc.)
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines
- Implement and enforce database security best practices (encryption, access control, auditing)
- Support system migrations, upgrades, and patching activities
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
