About The Position

Avanade is hiring a senior Data Engineering and Data Governance Architect for its Data & AI Practice. The role provides client-focused technical leadership on strategic opportunities and complex delivery engagements, helping clients shape and implement modern data platforms, governance, reporting, real-time intelligence, analytics, and AI solutions.

The architect works closely with delivery teams and client stakeholders to shape solutions, make architectural decisions, develop plans and roadmaps, and produce design artifacts. The role includes designing and implementing Microsoft Purview capabilities, establishing governance standards and workflows, and integrating Purview with Azure, Databricks, PostgreSQL, and other platforms. It also involves leading data and analytics platform development using Python, SQL, Microsoft Azure Data Services, Fabric, and Databricks.

As a senior member of the technical community, the architect mentors colleagues, communicates complex technical concepts to audiences ranging from engineering teams to senior executives, and contributes to sales, business development, solution growth, and go-to-market initiatives. The position also supports cross-industry solutions, managed services, and multi-year engagements.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Microsoft Purview governance features and integration with other tools.
• Experience working with stakeholders to create technical visions, high-level architectures, and delivery roadmaps for large programs, particularly those focused on data governance.
• Experience in data, applied intelligence, automation, IoT, and related technologies.
• Awareness of channels to market and experience working in the Microsoft and partner ecosystem to support customer success.
• Understanding of responsible data platform and migration principles, practices, and regulatory frameworks, including the ability to articulate risk mitigations while delivering solutions.
• Ability to create design artifacts and present them for approval at architectural forums involving engineering stakeholders and senior client executives.
• In-depth understanding of modern Data & AI capabilities, including structured and unstructured data analysis, streaming data, IoT, AI, and generative AI.
• Experience designing and delivering large-scale data platform solutions using approaches such as Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Fabric, and Cloud Scale Analytics.
• Ability to design for architectural characteristics such as performance, security, and reliability.
• Consultative or complex technical sales and deployment project success, and experience in architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications.
• Extensive experience with large, complex enterprise accounts, architecting cloud solutions for data estate workloads, and implementing large-scale cloud data projects.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including collaborative decision-making, conflict resolution, and follow-through.
• Ability to orchestrate, lead, and influence remote teams.
• Consultative, collaborative, relationship-building approach; adaptability and resilience; and leadership, negotiation, and client advisory skills.
• An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or machine learning is likely; Avanade also supports an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on client projects, working with delivery teams and client stakeholders.
• Shape strategic opportunities, deals, and propositions; drive architectural decisions; and create plans, roadmaps, and design artifacts.
• Design and implement Microsoft Purview solutions, including catalog, classification, lineage, and access governance.
• Define data governance standards, metadata models, stewardship workflows, reusable patterns, and governance operating processes.
• Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure, Databricks, PostgreSQL, and other platforms.
• Partner with business and engineering teams to promote governance adoption and resolve issues.
• Coach and mentor junior colleagues within the team and across the organization.
• Present technical concepts and solutions in audience-appropriate language, emphasizing value-based outcomes for business stakeholders, technology leaders, and sales teams.
• Lead development of data and analytics platforms, real-time intelligence, and reporting solutions using Python, SQL, Microsoft Azure Data Services, Fabric, and Databricks.
• Stay informed about Data and AI technology advancements and incorporate relevant innovations into solutions.
• Identify and execute cross-industry solutions at scale, including data migration, automation migration, visualization and reporting, and core data platform modernization and governance.
• Drive measurable and sustained growth across the Data & AI Solution Area.
• Integrate Data & AI into other Global Solution Areas, offerings, and go-to-market initiatives.
• Develop managed services and multi-year Data & AI engagements.
• Lead and influence remote teams to support successful customer project implementation.
• Engage in client sales and business development opportunities.
