About The Position

BMO Financial Group is seeking an experienced Solution Architect with data expertise to provide architecture leadership across enterprise Data & Analytics initiatives. The architect works with business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, security teams, and enterprise architects to deliver data capabilities for analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and digital transformation. BMO is specifically seeking a Solution Architect with data expertise rather than a Data Engineer. The position designs and governs architectures across cloud and hybrid environments, develops solution designs and architecture artifacts, leads architecture reviews, and provides technical leadership across multiple initiatives. It also contributes to architecture roadmaps and implementation plans, enterprise data strategy, data security and governance, and AI architecture practices.

  • Experience designing enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions.
  • Knowledge of Managed File Transfer (MFT), REST and SOAP API integrations, and event-driven and streaming architectures.
  • Experience integrating SaaS, on-premises, and cloud-based applications.
  • Expertise in enterprise data security and compliance practices, including encryption at rest and in transit, key management, RBAC, ABAC, data masking and tokenization, data classification and retention policies, and audit, monitoring, and compliance controls.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and governance frameworks such as CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, and internal security standards.
  • Strong understanding of data lake, lakehouse, and data warehouse architectures; enterprise integration patterns; API-first architectures; microservices and event-driven architectures; real-time and batch data processing; and Data Mesh and Data Fabric concepts.
  • Experience documenting architecture artifacts, capability maps, application inventories, technology roadmaps, and reference architectures.
  • Experience presenting complex solutions to an Architecture Review Board or similar and obtaining approval.
  • Experience achieving architecture alignment with stakeholders and translating complex data problems and strategy into solutions.
  • Understanding of organization-wide data domains and data flows, such as customer, account, products, and transactions, and how to create meaningful outcomes from data.
  • Clear vision and thinking regarding data-driven decision-making.
  • Expertise as a Solution Architect with data experience; the role is not seeking a Data Engineer.
