About The Position

Technology and Innovation (TI) is responsible for making innovation and technology the driving force behind Alberta’s economic growth and diversification. The Innovation, Privacy, and Stewardship (IPS) division is accountable for the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy (ATIS); innovation programs and governance; protection of personal information; enterprise information management and technology policy, training and awareness; business relationship management with partner departments; project management; and business reporting. Within the IPS division, the Enterprise Strategic Operations (ESO) Branch is accountable for enterprise IT reporting, project management, and IMT communications, training, and outreach. This includes enterprise services to promote the Ministry’s services and resources across the Government of Alberta (GoA), supporting the adoption of technology and innovation to deliver better, faster, and smarter services. Within ESO branch, the Oversight and Standards Unit provides reporting services that transform IT and service delivery data into actionable insights, enabling evidence-based decision-making and helping ensure technology investments deliver value for Albertans. The team partners with business and technical stakeholders to oversee service performance, governance, and operating standards, providing trusted insights that promote accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and informed decision-making across technology operations.

Requirements

A university degree in a related field (e.g., Business), supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible, related experience in data analysis, reporting, and data visualization.
Experience building and maintaining dashboards and reporting data sets.
Experience interpreting performance data and presenting findings to senior leadership audiences.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of IT service performance measurement, KPIs, and benchmarking.
Experience working in a large, complex organization in a reporting capacity.
Experience coordinating responses to audits or formal reviews (e.g., Office of the Auditor General).
Knowledge of public-sector strategy, governance, and the Government of Alberta context

Responsibilities

Build and maintain executive IT dashboards by working with subject matter experts to source and structure reliable data sets, ensure the data is accurate and fit for purpose, and create clear visualizations of IT performance to support senior leader decision-making.
Provide strategic analysis and evidence-based recommendations by translating complex IT and service delivery data into clear business insights.
Coordinate ministry responses to IT governance reviews, audits, and oversight activities ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
Work with project delivery managers to establish benchmarks and targets and report on outcomes, value realization, and continuous improvement opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
Maintain and strengthen the TI Service Delivery Operating Model, ensuring governance, processes, and reporting practices remain current, effective, and aligned with business needs.
Champion an AI-first approach to data and reporting, leveraging emerging technologies to improve insights, operational efficiency, and stakeholder outcomes.
Provide leadership continuity by acting on behalf of the Manager as required.
