About The Position

Cockroach Labs is a category-defining tech company that develops CockroachDB, a database designed to help companies build and scale applications. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing Accounting team. This role is crucial for supporting the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and U.S. GAAP, and contributing to continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes within a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The Senior Accountant will also assist with external audits, technical accounting research, international compliance, and various special projects.

Requirements

5–7 years of overall accounting experience
2+ years of public accounting experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent
Solid GL accounting experience
Proficiency with ERP systems
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Self-motivated team player with the ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve competing business issues
Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects within tight deadlines
Business acumen and comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

Nice To Haves

CPA preferred
NetSuite experience is a strong plus
Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and fixed asset accounting is a plus
System implementation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Perform general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, SOX compliance, and other ad hoc tasks
Execute monthly accounting close activities and complete related deliverables on time
Perform reconciliations and conduct actual vs. actual flux analysis with a strong attention to detail
Coordinate and assist with external audit requests
Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and maintain effective internal controls
Support the external reporting process and SEC filing deadlines
Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new accounting policies and procedures
Support international compliance efforts, including statutory reporting, local GAAP requirements, and coordination with in-country advisors across Cockroach Labs' global entities
Assist in monitoring and maintaining compliance with international tax obligations, transfer pricing documentation, and cross-border intercompany transactions
Proactively identify issues, drive continuous improvement, and optimize and automate processes and systems
Assist in special projects associated with inventory, budgets, financial metrics, and more
Participate in system testing and provide support for ERP and financial system implementations
Take on ad hoc projects to streamline and scale accounting operations
