This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a sharp technical accounting background, comfort working independently, and the confidence to manage the full finance function from day-to-day operations to executive reporting. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, adapts quickly to existing systems and processes, and hits the ground running with minimal ramp time. You're the type of person who walks in, quickly assesses how things work, and makes it run better. You communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders, flag issues before they become problems, and take ownership of the function with confidence.

Requirements

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/controllership experience, ideally within professional services or consulting
  • Solid working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online — you know it well and can work in it on day one
  • Hands-on ADP payroll experience required; familiarity with additional payroll platforms is an asset
  • Strong Excel skills; comfortable building and maintaining financial models and reports

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle accounting: GL, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with regulations
  • Manage payroll end-to-end across our various entities
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensure cash flow accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Online for day-to-day accounting operations
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
  • Prepare and file HST/GST, payroll remittances, and other regulatory submissions
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners as required
  • Support leadership with financial insights and ad hoc analysis to inform business decisions
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficiencies where applicable
