The Sr Construction Safety Program Manager oversees the construction safety program for the Duarte Campus and additional California locations as assigned. This role partners closely with leaders, contractors, and vendors across the City of Hope enterprise to ensure full compliance with CAL/OSHA regulations, Joint Commission Environment of Care standards, and internal safety policies. Working in collaboration with the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, this position plays a critical role in cultivating a safe and healthful environment for employees, patients, contractors, vendors, and visitors across all facilities. Regular site visits to active construction projects are required, including coordination with vendor and contractor safety officers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in construction safety or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience delivering safety training programs
  • Management and program management experience, ideally in healthcare or research environments
  • Strong working knowledge of CAL/OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction safety initiatives to promote a proactive and consistent safety culture
  • Conduct regular construction site inspections and collaborate with contractor safety officers
  • Ensure all ICRA and PICRA documentation is current, accurate, and properly posted
  • Ensure compliance with CAL/OSHA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and update construction safety policies and procedures
  • Establish and track safety performance metrics, trends, and reporting
  • Deliver effective safety training programs and continuing education for staff
  • Lead accident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions
  • Respond promptly to safety concerns, incidents, and potential life‑threatening emergencies
