About The Position

SpaceX is building and operating large-scale power generation for launch and compute. The Sr. Construction Manager runs field construction of a power plant, overseeing civil, mechanical, and electrical installation of turbines and balance of plant through mechanical completion and handoff to commissioning. This is a field-based role requiring full-time site presence and direct management of construction work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
At least 5 years of experience constructing utility-scale power plants in a field leadership role.
Experience leading construction of at least one large gas turbine installation, frame or aeroderivative, including balance of plant.
Direct experience managing contractors on a heavy industrial site.
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Must be available for full-time site presence.
Willingness to travel between sites.
Ability to work in an active construction environment, including outdoors, in heat, at heights, and in industrial PPE.
Must meet U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

At least 10 years of experience constructing utility-scale power plants in a field leadership role.
EPC construction management experience on power projects.
Mechanical installation experience with GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, or Doosan turbines, HRSGs, and large rotating equipment.
High-voltage and balance-of-plant electrical construction experience.
Experience with fast industrial programs such as data-center power, LNG, or mobile generation, in addition to utility plants.
Self-perform construction background, including time as a superintendent or general foreman.

Responsibilities

Lead on-site construction for gas turbine power plants and associated balance of plant.
Direct contractors, superintendents, and SpaceX construction staff, and own the daily plan.
Run direct-hire craft and subcontract crews through superintendents and general foremen, and set craft loading by area.
Maintain safety, quality, and schedule, and stop work that is incorrect.
Own the site safety program, including LOTO, permit-to-work, hot work, and NFPA 70E, with stop-work authority for everyone on site.
Set quality hold points for welding, NDE, hydrotests, and rotating-equipment alignment.
Sequence civil, mechanical, electrical, and controls installation so commissioning can start on time.
Manage OEM and EPC field presence, laydown, lifts, and tie-ins.
Own critical lift plans for turbines, generators, transformers, and skid or module sets.
Plan tie-ins, outages, and energizations around energized equipment already on site.
Verify installed quantities and contractor progress, and manage field changes and change orders.
Turn over systems with completed walkdowns, categorized punch items, and test records and redlines in the dossier.
