About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Compensation, the Senior Compensation Consultant is a senior-level compensation professional who provides advanced analytical expertise, advice, and solutions in support of Total Rewards, HR and business priorities. They will additionally manage projects and workstreams to support the design, enhancement, and implementation of Sun Life compensation programs. The role requires strong technical compensation capability, sound judgment and the ability to translate data into clear, compelling, and actionable insights and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Human Resources, or related field, with 6-8 years of compensation-related experience
  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, theory, and program design, including plan modeling and implementation
  • Must have experience in sales incentive design
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to manipulate large data sets and perform complex financial modeling
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational abilities to handle complex multi-task assignments
  • Strong relationship management and consulting skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms with stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Deep experience in market data analysis, quantitative analysis, and survey techniques
  • Bias for continuous improvement and leveraging technology and data to improve outcomes
  • Demonstrated initiative and capability to resolve complex situations
  • Demonstrated curiosity and bias for learning, with an openness to exploring new approaches and challenge conventional thinking
  • Ability to synthesize data and tell a clear, meaningful story tailored to different audiences

  • Progress toward or completion of CCP or CHRP designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop partnerships with HR Business Partners and provide ongoing comprehensive support and advice for compensation programs and client group initiatives
  • Analyze market competitiveness of compensation and incentive programs and conduct complex research to inform program enhancements and decision-making
  • Manage medium to large compensation-related projects, developing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Lead the review, design, and governance of sales incentive plans for assigned client groups in partnership with stakeholders
  • Provide guidance on complex compensation issues, considering business needs, best practices, and organizational values while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • Lead compensation support for assigned groups during annual performance/compensation cycle and market reviews, partnering closely with HR Business Partners to provide meaningful and business aligned outcomes
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in compensation practices and contribute to skills development within the HR community
  • Conduct job evaluations at multiple levels and degrees of complexity
  • Develop clear and compelling materials to support compensation initiatives, as needed, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively across varying levels and audiences
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of compensation design, practices, and industry trends
