About The Position

The Senior Bid/Commercial Manager will be responsible for leading the Pre-sales and tendering process, providing high-quality High Voltage Substation and Electrical transmission proposals to customers in Canada and the United States. This role involves overall proposal generation, development, and associated risk review processes, adhering to the Grid Solutions Deal Risk Management process. The objective is to submit proposals on time, meeting customer requirements, quality standards, process compliance, and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering (electrical or mechanical) discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial and project management or a similar role.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with AC substations, Electrical Transmission and Distribution systems applied to Data Centers, Oil & Gas, renewables, industrial, and utilities segments.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Development of complete proposals for High Voltage Substations and Transmission systems (765KV, 345KV, 138KV... + MV/LV) in close cooperation with Commercial Ops, sales, the execution team, sourcing, legal, and other functions.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to identify customer needs.
  • Ensure proper engagement with customers throughout the tendering phase and respond to customer clarifications timely.
  • Engage with other functions during the tendering phase to develop scope, project plans, schedule, and risk management.
  • Ensure commercial and technical aspects of the proposal are complete and compliant with customer requirements, presenting the most competitive solutions.
  • Work closely with Region Sales teams as a key partner in strategy development to create winning proposals and meet or exceed the region’s orders plan.
  • Support Market Level Pricing Indicators, target pricing, and Pricing Strategy.
  • Support the AC Substation Product Line strategy in meeting segment orders operating plan, Sales, margin, and hit rate.
  • Complete risk assessment, submission, deal clarification/negotiation & hand-over to the execution team.
  • Execute the Commercial Risk Review Process, including deal reviews and approvals, in compliance with Grid Solutions tendering process.
  • Work closely with Commercial Operations and Legal to lead contract Terms & Conditions negotiations.
  • Ensure process adherence to all Government contracting requirements.
  • Manage opportunities pipeline governance, ensuring opportunity forecasts are accurately reflected in the sales force system.
  • Support proposal process improvement and proposal quality metrics.
  • Drive the OTR turnover process to ensure proper control of contract flow-down requirements.
