About The Position

The Sr Clinical Risk Management Professional identifies and investigates potential sources of clinical and operational loss to reduce risk and improve patient safety. Reporting to the Associate Director, you will focus on moderately complex to complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of clinical events, patient behavior incidents, and safety trends. You will operate with autonomy and contribute to the development of risk management strategy through data-driven insights and collaboration. You will make meaningful contributes to our clinical risk and patient safety programs. You will be analyzing, and managing clinical occurrence reports, patient behavior events, and other patient safety–related concerns. You will identify trends and system vulnerabilities that may affect patient or staff safety and work with clinical, compliance, legal, and operational partners to mitigate risk.

Requirements

  • Active clinical license: LPN/LVN, RN, APRN, or PA
  • 5 or more years of healthcare experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and discuss sensitive clinical risk issues

Nice To Haves

  • Background in quality improvement, patient safety, or risk management
  • Working knowledge of occurrence reporting systems, clinical event review processes, and patient behavior management
  • Experience identifying and mitigating clinical risk in a value-based care or population health setting

Responsibilities

  • Review and triage occurrence reports, including patient safety events, adverse events, near misses, and patient behavior incidents.
  • Conduct/Coordinate detailed clinical risk assessments and root cause or gap analyses related to reported events.
  • Identify patterns and emerge risk trends related to patient care, clinical decision-making, and patient or visitor behavior.
  • Partner with clinical leaders and staff to support event follow-up, corrective action planning, and sustainable risk reduction strategies.
  • Help with the development and monitoring of risk controls, policies, and best practices related to patient safety and clinical risk.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal reporting standards.
  • Communicate clinical risk findings to partners across the organization.
  • Begin to influence departmental strategy through subject matter expertise in clinical risk, patient safety, and event management.
  • Exercise independent judgment on moderately complex to complex issues related to technical approach, analysis, and prioritization of work.
