About The Position

Cavora Talent Group is representing a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering firm seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Geotechnical and Construction Services team based in East Hanover, NJ. Our client works with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients and offers strong technical exposure, leadership opportunities, and long-term growth. This role requires an in-office presence in East Hanover and regular collaboration with teams in New York City, Newark, and Princeton. Our client is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer who will be responsible for managing and executing geotechnical and construction materials testing projects from proposal through completion. This individual will play a key leadership role overseeing technical work, mentoring staff, supporting business development efforts, and ensuring high-quality project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 3+ years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong technical background in geotechnical engineering including: Shallow and deep foundation systems, Retaining walls, Infiltration testing, Compaction control, Soil classification
  • Experience with construction inspections including: Concrete and reinforced concrete, Soil compaction, Shallow/deep foundations, Asphalt pavement
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior staff.
  • Willingness to attend industry events during and outside standard business hours.
  • Interest in developing new business while maintaining existing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage engineering tasks including technical analysis, evaluations, field investigations, design reviews, calculations, and reporting.
  • Manage and oversee Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection projects for both public and private sector clients.
  • Ensure project execution meets quality standards, timelines, and client expectations.
  • Prepare and review proposals, geotechnical reports, and technical documentation.
  • Provide supervision and oversight of field staff performing construction materials testing and special inspections.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants to support multi-discipline project delivery.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships; assist with business development efforts.
  • Participate in jobsite visits, construction support activities, and coordination meetings.
  • Support project collections and overall project financial performance.
